  • Hello lovely peeps

Thank you all so much for taking the time to write - I sat on my hands not to check it constantly all day but was VERY excited to see your posts …

GG - some really good and bigger questions in there, will revert when brain a little less fleabay-fried. For now though I too love that joke (for some reason I've always told it as a US tourist, but same principle …)and working hard on piaf-like no regrets, wailing or gnashing backwards.

newgirly - thanks so much, it does irrationally help to know I'm not the only one :) After years of not selling on fleaBay, I am astonished at what does sell - I'd encourage you to have a quick search on 'sold listings' for anything you might have, you'd be (or at least I have been) very surprised! And I do have some other ideas - all inspired by this lovely board … of which more anon - I'm trying very hard not to do scattergun / dilute and be a bit focused, at least not to run before I can walk or swing a mouse around my home space.

Ali-t well done on the white goods, hope it brings in good commission. And I like the extra silver lining in that I didn't even leave the flat today so, my first diary day is also an NSD :):):)

Tilly yours was the first I read and I'm very excited you stopped by today. Easy to feel focused on day 1 but I could already today feel a bit different having 'declared' what I am up to, so here's hoping I have an iota of your focus over the coming years. It is indeed astonishing what people will pay for, and I have been a buyer more than a seller in the past, a sobering thought.

Goldie - wow, I'm so impressed - 6 years of baying! No wonder you are all done and MF … you were one of the people at a different stage (albeit way out the other end from me) who made me feel I could join in although not OP'ing, so thank you. And yes I'm allergic to the fees - I won't pay anything I don't absolutely have to which I think - though correct me if I'm wrong - is final value and paypal …

greent - thanks for the encouragement. I like the KM ethos, albeit with a bit of flexibility / individual tinkering. I'm relieved to know I might get more batch offers, although I'm quite glad I didn't see that post earlier today or I'd have given up. And when is the florida trip?

So … drum roll please … (must be tired cos I can't find a drum emoticon :)) … I have 38 items listed, 6 sold, 4 in draft to go live and only one left to trigger tomorrow, the light had really given up before I got pictures today. And (with one possible exception) ALL stuff I didn't even have to think about whether I'd miss. Pretty disgusting really to have almost 50 such things in a small flat. Full of good resolve to list things as they arise, and I hope I never get myself again in the backlog situation of having an entire 2 days' worth of listing to do, but it's a good start to have done it. Tomorrow night I 'just' have to work out Hermes …

Very tired though and job centre in the morning (what a lovely way to start the week) so that's all for tonight folks - thank you again for stopping by and hope to 'see' you again soon. Borrowing from Alchemilla, today I am grateful for having found this fab community :)

If you're in a city or reasonably big town have a look for local selling pages on gumtree as well. No fees and no postage plus people will generally collect so no hassle - DD swears by it. Also great to get rid if free stuff as you can leave it outside (if suitable area) and you don't even need to be in. Same with Facebook selling pages.

Congrats on your first no spend day :j

BTW - the questions I asked don't have to be answered publicly! Just making sure you're cobs underwing the bigger picture.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Another vote for gumtree here. Its a pain having people up to the house but once thkngs are gone they are gone as people have seen them before they purchase and no requests for refunds or things missing in the post.

Thank you Tilly - it is certainly more than a little 'challenging' …

But I'm determined to stick with it - thanks to :money: for the reminder that it is money to which I'm entitled and I shouldn't feel bad about claiming it …

Look at the bar near where sig goes. You will see a balloon type speech balloon. Click on that and then postreply. Your quote will appear at the top of yr reply.

Thank you Tilly - that's what I tried last time but somehow cut it off. :o Doh, hope this time works. (oooo, and a signature - hadn't thought about that. Probably just as well or I'd have taken more time procrastinating :rotfl: … No Hollyboll, you don't NEED a sig now, you WANT to play with sigs. But you NEED to do some job seeking activity now. Play with sigs later.)

Hope you are having a good day.

Hollyboll, sigs are essential for keeping on track as every time you post you see your successes or failures at the bottom of the post. I don't have any info on mine as I am still in denial and hiding from the 2 giant elephants in the room (weight and money) :(

I'm going to do a sig tonight when I get home to face up to the disaster that is my savings plan and diet. Time to be accountable - I now feel I have more accountability through your diary than my own lol.

:T:T:T:T well done Ali on the signature -and happy to be of service for accountability.
As a master of denial, ostriching and ignoring elephant-dwarfing dinosaurs, I empathise :)

For me, I'll get to a sig but baby steps and starting with the diary for now. On the subject of accountability, it does work - was running to a work meeting this afternoon and feeling knackered so contemplated a full fat coke, but the thought of having to report to you lot what it cost (a la New Girly Great Cheese Sarnie Saga) stopped me. So it does work :)
