how much damage is there to the car and how much is it going to cost? Ie, have you weighed up the cost of going through insurance as opposed to not doing? Is it possible that the wagon wouldnt have realised what he had done? Either way see what your company solicitor says or advises

why does it matter that woolworths had 4 vans in the area at the time.

the fact you have a witness saying it was a woolworths van surely is enough to point the finger squarely at woolies.

shouldnt matter who was driving, surely all the vans are on the same fleet, same insurance cover etc?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

This is the part that annoys me, the transport manager must know who was driving the lorry at the time. I suppose these days you just have to expect courtesy as having been a thing of the past.

I can understand that the Police have more pressing matters to attend to.

    I quite agree.

It's not rocket science to check the 4 lorries for damage to see which one hit your car. I'd tell them to check the vehicles and also make a complaint to Woolies about the transport manager not doing his job properly. If he wants to fob you off and behave like a git then treat him like one.

Maybe take the contact them all the time approach and hope they get fed up enough to sort the problem out?! Will waste loads of your time though. Surely Woolworths has those big corporate insurance policies for all their lorries so the only thing they have to lose out on is increased insurance costs.
  • Its likely that the HGV driver didnt even notice that your car had been hit, i'm guessing that it was the rear of the truck that hit your car? it probably wouldnt have damaged the HGV apart from scratched the paint.

Surely there will be traces of your paint on his HGV and his paint on your vehicle. Thus a link can be made. That doesn't seem like too much work for the police. Why can't you get the CCTV? You're entitled to it under the data protection act so you should try and write to the bus company to obtain it. Good luck :)

The HGV driver may not have noticed hitting me, it's just the attitude of the transport manager, he hasn't been rude in what he's said to but he hasn't been any help either. It's basically 'I don't give a f***'

As I said earlier he must know who was driving that lorry, have a bit of courtesy and admit it.

I'm going to get his, his bosses and head office address and see if I can sort out a letter from our legal department complaining of my crap treatment.

Might not get me anywhere, but will make me feel better.

I was told they may not have noticed by the police and that drivers of larger vehicles are given some leaway(sp?) with this... !!!!!! if you pass the test to drive a HGV surely you a responsible for what you hit/destroy/runover.

TBH I doubt the police will do anything in the way of matching your paintwork etc - didn't even bother looking at the damage on mine as it was under £1k damage:mad:

    I wasn't impressed at all!

And sheeple who pass the car test should think before doing silly things like undertaking artics on roundabouts / not giving them enough space to manoeuvre at junctions etc, most people have only got themselves to blame when their car gets damaged. i think thats what the police were trying to tell you:rolleyes:
