Hit by a Woolworths Lorry.
I was in my car on Tuesday waiting at traffic lights when a Woolworths HGV going in the other direction decided to smack into my rear panel, drag along it and rip my rear bumper off! Thanks for that. I pulled in straight away expecting the lorry to do the same and when I got out of my car he was gone up the road with no chance of me reading his reg no or any other identifying marks, except that it was a Woolworths lorry.
I'm just after a bit of advice as I rang the transport division and get the feeling that they are mugging me off as he says that he can't tell which lorry it was as he had 4 lorries in the area at that time.
I can't believe this as what if the lorry had run someone down, I bet he'd be able to tell which lorry it was then. I was just wondering what my next move should be. I do have a witness, the bus driver who was behind me, but unfortunately he didn't get the reg number either.
It's a company car with a £150 excess which I'd obviously like to push Woolworths way. I was thinking of ringing him up and asking for his address and his head office address then telling him that I will be getting the company solicitors to write in to take the matter further.
Anyone else had anything similar? Or any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Police
This was failure to stop at the scene of an accident after all ... once you've got a reference number from them, then I think Woolies may sit up a bit more, particularly as you've got a witness.

I had similar - I did get the reg, he denied it - no witnesses so I loose out
Reported it to police, they spoke to him (he still denied it), nothing more they could do... You may have better luck as you do have a witness but then again no reg...0 -
There was CCTV on the bus according to the driver, but I just wonder how interested the Police will be in obtaining it.0

If there would be footage of you on the CCTV as well you can request a copy from the bus company under the Data Protection Act.
(It'll cost you a tenner).

Thanks brazillian, I'm off up the Police station now, I'll ask them about the CCTV footage.0

The Police inform me that I am not entitled to the CCTV footage under the Data Protection Act. I'm going to fill in a self reporting accident form and then try and go via the company solicitors.
Looks like I'm stuffed at the moment, but thanks for the help.0 -
Doesn't the CCTV on buses only cover the inside?0

if its a high street sort of location it may be worth flyering for witnesses0
