Begs the question as to why it takes Quidco and the like 4-5 months (and more!) to pay out doesn't it!?
This was a direct promotional offer to customers, whereas offers of cashback that come to us via Quidco isn't. No surprise really that banks don't pay Quidco and other affiliates as quickly.
  • I still haven't heard anything. I contacted Nationwide and they told me to contact MSE. I don't mind waiting but with no mention of the cashback at all, I doubt I will get it.

Have just checked my MSM e-mail

The FlexDirect current account pays a brilliant rate of 5%AER (fixed for 12 months) on balances up to £2,500, provided you pay in at least £1,000 per month. Not only that, because you applied for your account through our website, you have qualified for £100 cashback! Once Nationwide have completed your switch, we'll send your cashback payment by cheque within 30 working days.

I applied on 25th September. The account is open and advice from a Nationwide phone rep is that my a/c will be credited with £100 by the end of this month. Posts above seem to suggest that payment of the incentive is by cheque and, indeed, I would appear to have received the same MSM email as Old Bill. Seems a bit archaic to me.. payment by cheque that is, not Old Bill! ;)
  • My switch was completed on 9th October and received an email today 27th October to say that my £100 cheque is on the way.

I didn't receive any emails from msm other than this one.
I didn't really expect to receive the cash back because there wasn't any notification... it seems to have gone through though.

Does anyone know anything about what types of account can be switched in?

I have a couple of old accounts which are formally described as savings rather than current accounts, but still have sort code and account numbers, and one used to allow direct debits, but no debit card number on either.

I've logged in to one and added a couple of bill payment or transfer details, though not paid, so there would at least be some info detected in the switch process, but I wonder if NW would decide this isn't a transfer of a real current account.

If that wouldn't work, there's an almost redundant cashcard account that could go instead, though it is useful occasionally.

Sounds like the accounts you have are savings accounts and not current accounts so cant be used as part of the current account switch service, the cashcard account would work if it is still in date and you are willing to close the account as part of the switch and its not citibank (cant switch this)

    Halifax Instant Saver

    Sainsburys Bank Instant Access Savings/Saver

Both can do bill payment and transfers, and maybe direct debit, but no debit card.

Update for anyone interested, still didn't receive response from 3 polite emails.
Called company tonight and they said they would liase with nationwide but they don't have me down as being eligible as I did not receive an email from Nationwide stating the switch had completed.
Sods law now I've chucked the multitude of letters and cant find the exact one they want with the reference number of the switch (I switch a lot of accounts).

Called the Coop who I had switched from and they state account was closed on the 5th October via 7 day switch to Nationwide.
I didn't have any money or DD on the account, do you think NAtionwide are being picky and don't think its a real switch?
I can see nothing in the terms of the offer which specified cash or DD's, only that a full switch was carried out online. (which to me appears to have occurred?)
  • how long do nationwide flexdirect take to open? applied last week online, and received absolutely nothing in the post yet
