Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver! Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi All

Having a manic time at work. At least I am working, not ill or unemployed. Remind me to count my blessings.
DD is doing small shops so we are spending less as she has great control, you would all be proud of her. Goes in with a list, buys what is on the list and comes out. How does she do that? No impulse buys. I am beginning to wonder if she is really mine. Was she mixed up at birth?
I need to update signature with oct grocery spend.
Am on a knitting roll at the moment. Just discovered the most lovely magic wool that knits a pattern like fairisle. Totally a delight to work with.
    Have fun all.

It looks like he'll also have to pay for his prescriptions now (he currently takes nearly 30 tablets a day )!

Would a Prescription Prepayment Certificate help if you live in England? A three month one costs £29.10. So if you need two items or more per month for three months you'd make a saving because that £29.10 gives you unlimited precriptions for three months. You can also backdate the certificate for up to a month and get a refund on money already spent. (Link) (Link2)

The other option is to shop around privately for the prescription. (Link)

CLF - Sorry to hear your sad news x
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

    Hello all,
A bit late in the day for my post, but had to go out this morning & seem to have spent the rest of the day catching up. A few bits & bobs of money-saving activity though:
*Another cheap laundry wash overnight on Economy 7 tariff. Pegged out before I went out & everything dried in the sunshine.
*Took soup out of freezer for tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Tipped out my big paper carrier bag of tomatoes to see how many had ripened. Yay! Another 1kg of lovely ripe ones! Quartered them up & they are currently roasting in the oven with garlic, thyme, oil & balsamic vinegar. Half to crush & serve with pasta tonight, half to freeze, if I can find a little bit of space. Freezer rammed.
*Checked ebay listings. Surprised to see 2 watchers, as I'm rather scraping the bottom of the barrel with re-listing this stuff now.
*Did a few rows of knitting - will be doing more later. I need to get this present knitted this month really, as I have a couple more smaller ones to knit too.
*Checked online banking. Skimmed off £3 & PAD'd it across to Car Fund.
*Did one survey, because that's precisely as many as I could be bothered to do today.
*Pick up mr f & Click & Collect order.......that sounds a bit like mr f is arriving on Click & Collect, which he isn't. He's arriving on the train from York, needs picking up by me, then we will be going to fetch my John Lewis order (Christmas gift for smallest nephew.........cost £10 less than the first price I spotted this item at in a different shop). mr f likely to avail himself of free Waitrose latte while I'm clicking & collecting.
*Managed my 1 hour of gardening. Cleared a third of one of my big borders. Planted up spaces with self-seeded foxglove plants, so that's free flowers for next year. Also got some tat packed away in the shed & today's windfall pears collected up before the timer pinged to say my hour was up.
So that's about it. Not an NSD because I had a sort of informal local politics meeting with someone in town & we thought it would be way nicer to meet in a coffee shop, so I did treat myself to a coffee & awesome cheese & bacon scone.
    Bye all,
    f x
