  • Get them a goat, an Oxfam goat. (In fact for £100 you can get 2 pairs.)

Or you could try what a friend of mine did. It began when we started buying each other's grandchildren gifts. All well and good to begin with, then the numbers of little ones increased in both sets of families and the postage prices became shocking - they live some distance away from here so everything had to be posted and vice versa. So we decided that she would spend £20 each on hers and say it was from me, and I would spend £20 each on mine and say it was from her. And that way the children would at least stand a chance of getting something they actually wanted rather than random things from Granny's friend.

With other long distance friends we've actually mutually agreed not to bother. Saves so much hassle. My gift list has gone from about 30 people down to a dozen. x

The actual number I now buy for is very small....even my godchildren have got to a stage where money is by far the best gift we can give....most of the other members in the family are happy with the line that we are not offended by no christmas presents and actually they see it that we are one less family for them to buy for....

but as I have said my sister refuses to go with this so actually her and my BIL are the only pairing that will actually get a gift this year.
I have a few friends whos children all also hit 18 round christmas as does mine so they are easily sorted with bottles of fizz and glasses....and oh and sons are just having the £15 christmas stockings as there is really nothing any of us want or need.

I dont even think that I will actually need to buy any wrapping paper...what I have left over from previous years is plenty
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend

    Only joking x

    Good afternoon :)

Hope the poorlies amongst us are feeling better today.

Where has today gone?? I've blinked and missed it:(

I have started my Xmas shopping:j thanks to you lovely lot;)
    Book people-DD and DS
Claire's -DD and my 2 nieces

Now I need to find a good deal on family history subscriptions.... I've decided as my Dad is due to retire shortly I'm going to get him a years subscription so he can start the research he's always wanted to do, plus it will keep him busy and out of my mothers way as she also retired 6 months ago but keeps herself busy going on coffee morning trips with her friend.

Your mother may not see your dad for hours on end with a gift like that  :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I do family history, have done for over 20 years now. Trouble is, once I pick pencil and paper up and get started I don't want to stop. I will happily sit all day, begrudging time to stop and cook a meal. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.
