Good morning ...it really is foggy here today and reminds me of days gone by when fog was the norm:eek:on a typical Autumn morning .Hoping it improves and clears by mid-week when I have to travel to London as it will be another excuse for the trains to be delayed:(

Morning all. Very foggy here too - take care any elite who have to drive in it.
Could I ask a favour please? Our broadband is pitifully slow and we are thinking of changing to Virgin media. We don't know anyone who has it so can't get any opinions of it. If any elite are Virgin users or former users I'd love to know what you think, both in terms of performance and customer service. TIA. (I'm pretty sure DM uses it but I think he's still away)

Been with them since they took over Telewest/United Artists whatever. Broadband is very very fast but occasionally vanishes for the odd few hours with no explanation. I don't know anyone with faster than we've got.

We also have basic cable with a Tivo and their landline phone that's not very cheap (but we keep our incoming calls on) but a mobile that's on a very cheap deal for outgoing calls.

Not considering changing any time in the near future.

morning all - we also have fog which seems to have been lurking for the last couple of days

Groupon have a code for 20% off - not sure which categories but when you log on you can see the code

I've seen a few things now which say not to be used with promo codes and wondered about this but its their own promo codes they mean rather than the companies own.

There might be some ideas for activites or Christmas gifts - seem to be an awful lot of afternoon teas. Also Wrexham seems to be a hot spot - not sure how anyone within a 10 mile radius gets anything done with all of the lovely meals and afternoon teas you can have on Groupon deals in Wrexham :rotfl:

Last month I had no end of problems getting promo codes accepted. I talked to live chat but the first time was over a weekend and it expired so nothing could be done. When it happened again I talked to live chat again, very long conversation. They said they could not see a good enough reason for the code not to work for the deal I wanted and then they would get back to me.
When they emailed me again they gave me £10 groupon credit :T - very good customer service - so I am looking for something nice to spend it on :D

Amongst the chaos of yesterday I slipped off and went to watch a preview screening of the new film Brooklyn....I dont often recommend films but this was a little gem of a film for our more mature ladies or indeed anyone who is just reminiscent if the 1950's...

set in Ireland and Brooklyn and just a simple plot but so well executed.
I was lucky enough to see it at a little independent picture house which is also very in keeping with the era so I actually had a lovely few hours of nostalgic bliss on a Sunday morning

I've also been trying to spend the Amazon £10 credit which has not got very much time left on it.

The author I read has just published a new book in a series I am reading and even though its been less than a month I noticed it was down to £4.99 so that went into the shopping basket.

I then had a look for a paperback of a film we watched at the weekend and this was more tricky as mostly the books seemed to be coming from the US but I found a copy with a UK seller.

Then I looked at my basket and it said spend another £1.79 to get free postage - you have to spend at least £10

You would have thought this would be easy - no spending £1.79 is not easy.

My author also has another series and number 10 in that series was published back in April so I checked prices but these are still high - £7.99 - but I thought OK I've got the credit code and I'll get free postage and I've got Amazon credit so I might as well.

but for some unknown reason putting this book into the basket is not making any difference. I tried a few other sellers, same problem.

Its turning into one of those knotty wet afternoon problems that leave you annoyed and exasperated, having spent hours and more than you really wanted to.

so if anyone has any suggestions as to how to spend £1.79 in an eligible category I am open to suggestions :D
