    Donations from random Internet requests
  • Excuse me? I ask have you ever been in position? I highly doubt it otherwise you would not be spouting your ridiculous BS on here. You know nothing about me or the position I am in, where I have been or what I have done. I do not need your sympathy neither YOUR money. At no point am I asking for either of these things, you clearly have nothing better to do than try and belittle people who are in a bad situation. I asked a simple question so go and post elsewhere if you have nothing constructive to say.
  • And so you know my internet will be disconnected at the end of this month, I'm glad in a way so I don't have to listen to people who have nothing of use to say but would put someone down who is in a bad place

Rather than ranting, why don't you answer the questions that have been asked?

Having zero funds is not something that happens overnight.

Another suggestion is if you have any Boots/Nectar/Tesco Clubcard vouchers/points to use those to buy food.

  • Hi, so sorry to hear of your situation. Search on google "Shelter cash in a crisis" this page explains what you can do including:
    a) push for benefit advance
    B) find local authority schemes near you (search your postcode on the website given don't worry that it's about child poverty it's not just for families with children
    C) find your local food bank
The shelter site links to the info you need to find your local resources. Go for it.
also second the posters that asked do you have utility credit you can reclaim, tesco, nectar, boots points, can you call your bank and ask for a very small overdraft etc
    Good luck

I hope the OP has managed to sort something out rather than doing nothing.

The OP has said they cant get to the food bank as its a train ride away.

Help has been posted, its up to the OP to take up the advice.

The OP may be genuine, but I can’t help but be cynical and think that perhaps this is/was a ploy to get posters to feel sorry for them and offer to send them the money via Paypal/bank transfer via PM. After all, “it’s only a small amount”. It’s the oldest trick in the book and I’ve seen it happen on numerous forums over the years. Just think about the number of members who use this site and will read this thread, even if only 5 people sent a tenner, that’s £50 for doing nothing and those members will never openly admit to sending money or asking for it back and usually the OP never returns again.

The OP mentioned about having no phone, I don’t understand how someone who has been working, even if in a minimum wage capacity, could not afford a mobile phone. I’m not talking about iPhones, I’m talking a bog standard £5-10 cheap phone with a PAYG sim in it. Think about it, if OP is looking for work, how are any agencies or prospective employers supposed to contact them? Most companies will call first, rather than e-mail, or at some point will want to speak to you on the phone.

Also, how have they been surviving since not working? And the most obvious one of asking friends/family.

They’ve also been online today this morning, why no response to the questions asked in this thread?

I'm not falling for that ploy either

I am very skeptical about this too. I just can't imagine anyone not knowing someone that could lend them 15-20 quid for a few weeks. Also, it seems to be that the OP can afford the internet and a computer or phone, even though they claim they don't have a phone now, and the internet is being switched off at the end of the month (convenient. ;) )

Most people hit hard times at some point, but I do find it odd that someone needs to borrow 15-20 quid from a loan company. I mean, who on EARTH would even attempt to try and borrow such a small amount from a loan company. I don't buy it.

And, as I said, I find it odd that they don't know a soul who can let them have 15-20 quid for a few weeks. And as someone said earlier, having zero funds is not something that happens overnight.

Very suspicious. And the reaction when people started saying so, made me even more suspicious Very defensive, and attacking people for daring to challenge them on here.

I hope nobody sends them any money.
