You say you shouldn't let people get away with abusing you but then you go on to explain two examples of you reporting someone to the council and then the police that have negatively impacted you. I think you should be selfish and just ignore them, save your time and energy for yourself not teaching someone else.
You say yourself you don't have the strength to fight them so don't bother, if its good enough for Gandi.
I think the above is wrong but true. While abuse such as this should be questioned. Employees of companies should not be allowed to demand evidence someone is disabled just because of where they park. However the truth is that if you genuinely need a blue badge then you have a lot worse problems to worry about than dirty looks over where you park.0 -
I'm 29 and have a blue badge - I don't use a stick or wheelchair and I don't half get some looks!!! I am spoiling for a fight though when people give me that 'you're not disabled' look....
I'm at that point where I'm going to start wearing a badge myself.... lol.0 -
This morning - I parked my car in the local Morrisons, disabled area and put my blue badge on the dashboard and (slowly squeaked) towards the entrance (my leg brace needs oiling !!)
I looked back and saw a people carrier pull in to the space beside my car - the woman driving it couldn't park in a large disabled space (it overlapped my space) - she got out as did 3 kids and I thought "I wonder which is disabled" - She then started to walk towards me ...
"You are not allowed to park there" - she said, loudly, to me
I was taken aback and ignored her
15 minutes later - I was returning to my car, and she was standing by my car, with uniformed Morrisons parking attendant - who told me that this "woman" had reported me to him for blue badge abuse and could I prove that I was disabled !!
I pulled up a trouser leg to show my brace - which resulted in an apology from him but the woman glowered at both of us - dragged her kids into her car and sped off - almost colliding with another car in the process !!
I should have taken her reg number .......
What a charming woman; and setting such a fine example to her spawn. It was absolutely NONE of her business. I'm sorry that you had that to deal with OP.
I hope she's learned her lesson.
I don't think I'd ever feel compelled to take issue with someone who used a disabled parking bay; not knowing the person surely means that one shouldn't make assumptions?
I work in an emergency vets clinic evenings and weekends - the other night a wheelchair-bound lady and her husband brought her disability assistance dog in as he was quite poorly. Following treatment, the lovely dog "handled" the payment transaction as well! It was amazing to see.
Hope this sort of nasty encounter doesn't happen too much to you again in future, OP. x0 -

So do you mind me asking why you have a blue badge.
My OH has no vision in one eye, no peripheral vision in his other eye and cannot get one.
It really doenst sound as if you are that disabled to be honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If have thought fighting to be more difficult than walking from the back of the car park but I admittedly do neither very often0

Maybe too disabled to walk from a normal parking space, what do you reckon?0 -

I thought that was kind of the point of an anonymous internet forum, someone posts a statement then others give their opinion which by its nature will probably be judgemental.
Blingaling86 said that he/she is 29 doesn’t use any walking aids and actively seeks to fight anyone who questions their right to park in a disabled bay. It seems to me that based on the last point that if you’re happy enough to fight people in a car park its odds on that you are well enough to walk across it too.
I’m sure there is more to it than that though.
It could be this kind of statement that leads to people questioning others right to use disabled parking spaces. For the record I have never and wouldn’t query anyone for parking in a disabled bay.0 -

with visual impairments, they use the sight in the 'better' eye to decide who does or doesn't get a BB.
registered blind people get one automatically regardless of if a DLA/PIP award is in place0
