Most of the theatres do a ticket lottery at about 6pm - go at around 5, put your name down, they draw tickets for the front two rows, and it's not expensive - the ones I saw were around $26.50. As you're on your own, you'll be at an advantage.
Is that at the actual theatres? Or at the box office thingies?
I'm not that into musicals, well never really been to one but quite fancy taking one in cos well its NY after all! Thought about the Radio City Christmas one but $150 seemed a bit much. Been looking on broadwaybox and thought i'd found a decent seat for $60 but service charges etc is another $50. Is this pretty standard, am I prob best to just get a ticket when I arrive?0 -

what do you mean unfortunately? i've found delta's service 10 times better than Air France...
and, it is easy to find out details of baggage...
delta.com - click travelling and check in, click baggage
and then it states here
When traveling to or from cities outside the United States you can check two bags, per passenger, free of charge.
If you have additional bags to check, you may be charged excess baggage fees.
Each bag must:
Weigh 50 pounds (22.5 kg) or less.
Not exceed 62 inches when you total length + width + height.

I thought they weren't a good airline compared to others I have flown with in the past. The plane smelled of urine (I was sat near the toilets), I had no choice of meal, and the staff weren't friendly. No personal screen entertainment. Couldn't check in online. I tried to find out repeatedly how much baggage allowance I was allowed, and the site kept crashing.
In any case, there's no need for staff to be rude to customers.
ronaldo, yes, you just go to the actual theatres. Although to be honest, if you're not really into musicals or theatre, or you live in a big city in the UK, I don't see the point of spending loads of dollars to go in New York. A show's a show wherever you go. And I'm speaking as someone who loves theatre.0 -
Hi !
Does anyone have any recent experiences flying with American airlines?
also i have lost five stone since my picture was taken and look much different - would this be a problem at immigration ?Merry Christmas MSE!0 -
Depends on the show and cast, I think. Phantom was different league on Broadway to be honest.
Out of interest did anybody here ever go and watch any stand-up? Everynight there was men on the corners of Times Sq shouting 'comedy show... get your tickets here'.misscomickat wrote: »A show's a show wherever you go. And I'm speaking as someone who loves theatre.MFiT-T6: #38

OMG.. not seat back entertainment on a flight.. what am i going to do...
yes.. staff shouldn't be rude, but delta from my POV, give a nicer service (multiple drinks trolley runs) when compared to air france (one after the meal, and nothing else!) but it is a personal choice..
I'd rather fly Delta anyday, (direct from manchester) than air france (change at CDG) or british airways (change at LHR)....

Thanks Mark - I'm flying Delta on New Years Day and got a bit worried then...it cant be worse than Olympic airways who I flew to Australia with a few years back eeeks!0

I quite fancy going to the Radio City show, think will try pick up a cheap ticket when i'm there for my second night. Comedy shows sound good as well so any reccomendations on these would be good.
Basically I trying to find something that I can have sort of organised for my first night or that I can find fairly easily having only arrived a few hours before altho if i'm stuck im sure i'll find a few pubs to go to!0 -

I flew with them twice in the last 4 months both trips were fine both ways. Seat back entertainment-choice of meals -no issues at all.
If you really feel it is unrecognisable you can get the passport office to update your photo (for a fee of course)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
