Tescos self scan allows up to about 25% or around 3 vouchers before asking for assistant to verify even they they usually just click it on ok.Get friends and family to give you coupons out of papers and mags.Doesnt matter if not bought product.May stretch your budget a bit further if you split your shop up into a few small ones.
The difference it makes would feed the cat for you!
All the best0 -
Lynzpower is the soya mince better value than the sainsburys ?0

Check each store when it comes to Tesco/ASDA/Waitrose for accepting coupons. Ours doesn't let you use one voucher without calling the attendant, many stores differ on policy. My local Tesco store hauled someone in the office when they tried to put a pile through, they basically told her it was fraud and if she was caught again they would call the police.
H&B flavoured soya is a tip I picked up from here, got to agree with Lynz lasts forever! Sainsburys one is 26p/100g will can't find the H&B price, if I can find it will post it. Oh plus the flavoured doesn't look anaemic.
**On a post a while back it said it was £1.28 for 375g so works out slightly more per 100g than Sainsburys by the looks of it**One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Hello, just thought i'd add a bit about the cat, we had a cat once with no teeth and we soaked her cat biscuits in some boiling water till they were soft, mixed them a bit with a fork and she ate them no trouble. Sometimes added some stock if I had some spare to add a bit of flavour.
Just an idea

I would love to be able to do this , but I don't think it would be possible.
There are two adults , two children , and four whippets in our house.
Obviously the Whipps don't eat much. They cost me £3 a week for two bags of dried dog food.
I have Been REALLY careful this month. I did a huge shop at the begining of the month which cost me £150 and stocked up freezer and store cupboard. Then decieded all I would need each week is fresh fruit and veg, milk and bread.
There is LOADS of food in the freezer still , I reakon enough to last another month.
My problem is the fresh fruit and veg. If you do the "5 a day" it costs a fortune! Fruit and veg is not cheep! My DS will only eat red grapes and bananas so I feel I have to buy those to make sure he's getting enough. Also spinach is REALLY expensive but as myself and the kids are veggie we need our iron.
It's very hars when I am asked for food to say NO! I have two growing children that need alot of food. It's very hard. Would love some advice . If it was me I would go "jungle" , but it's impossible to do that with a growing family!

I'm with Lil_me on feeding the animals. My cats get what they're given, dry food is far better for their teeth and digestion, plus as I said in an earlier post, I can feed the two of them for about £3 a month by buying in bulk0

I tried H&B soya (the flavoured one) and it tasted like cardboard, whatever I added to it. Sorry but it must be an acquired taste. Instead I use Beanfeast now - 73p per pack which makes two meals for two of us.
A very basic but perfectly edible veggie spag bol costs less than £1... half pack Beanfeast Bolognese Style 37p, tin Basics chopped toms 15p, half a small onion (chopped and fried) 6p, total 60p inc. oil for frying. 1/3 pack Own Label spaghetti 9p (cheaper if you use Basics, but I haven't tried that yet), 69p total and plenty for two hungry people. For another 5p-10p you can add a splash of soy sauce, a few mixed dried herbs, and/or a tiny bit of Marmite, to enhance the flavour.
A couple of slices of bread, topped with spread of your choice + garlic granules and grilled = instant garlic bread. Meal for two for less than £1.
Good luck with the cat - I hope he is less fussy than ours  .I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Asda does good veggie mince too, their own brand and you get 2 x 454g bags for £3 and it's the nicest of all the veggie minces I've tried. Seems expensive but you don't need to use much if you're padding out with cheap veg/beans etc...0

have you trie going to the supermarket late at night when they reduce a lot of the meat. You can get some great bargains. It doesn't matter if it going out of date, you can just put it in the freezer. My tesco's does loads !!0

Take advantage of the fruits; pies, crumbles, jams, stewd fruit etc.
You need to get the cat to do its business outside. I know its only £1 a week but thats 6.5% of your budget:eek:
Hopefully, your not vegetarian as you can make a nice meal with a tin of corned beef. When times have been tough:rolleyes: ...I have mashed spuds and chopped a tin into it with some softened onions and put a pastry top on. This can be stretched quite far and can be frozen. This could easily make 4-5 portions. Serve with frozen veg.
Tinned sweetcorn is 18p in Lidl and is delish. I knwo not everyone likes them but tinned peas are about 12p and not too bad or make them to mushy peas. Tinned toms 14p on toast or made into sauces for pasta is very cheap.
Grate cheese so it goes further and freeze, then you will only use what you need.
Do you have a SC? Literally, you can throw anything in there and it will turn out ok. We eat mainly chicken or lamb and I use a packet mix from Lidl (20p) and throw them in or sausages....fry some onions, and put in carrots, swede, spuds, tin of beans and anything that needs using up.
Quiches are cheap and filling and freeze well.
