Halifax switching bonus conditions

This seems too good to be true so I just wanted to check if anyone has any experience with it.

The terms say "If you do not meet the conditions of the offer we may claim back the £125. We will do this by debiting £125 from your account."

But the only condition that I can see is that the switching service must be used. It doesn't say any specific balance has to be paid in or any certain number of DD's need to be transferred. So you apply for the account, use the switching service, get £125 after three working days and you're free to leave?

Indeed, I think what they mean is that you dont use the Current Account Switching Service, and close your account elsewhere.

There is no DD stipulation on this current incentive only that you switch and close your account and you agree to switch all DD/SO and credits from your account over to the halifax account.

If you have already or open a new reward account you will need to fund the account with £750 and have 2 DD active monthly and stay in credit to get the £5 reward each month.

    And this bit....
£125 for switching - use the Current Account Switch Service by 18th October 2015 to transfer and close your old account held elsewhere. If you've had cashback for switching since January 2012, we’re sorry but you don’t qualify

In both the above scenarios the incentive shouldn't have been paid in the first place though! So what they're really saying is "we don't believe our systems are very robust, so if we slip up and pay you the incentive when we shouldn't have done we'll correct our mistake by removing the £125 from your account". :D

As I've posted before, I think the clause is a relic of earlier offers where they paid you the incentive as soon as you requested the switch, not after it completed.
