To qualify for the offer you must:
    a. Open a new Classic Plus account by 31 July 2015 and switch to TSB using the Current Account Switch Service by the 1 September 2015
    They corrected this.
    And it's 2 DDs now, not 3.

Do the DDs have to be in place for the switch? or can they be set up after?

    So, stupid Q's

I had 3 sole current accounts as did Mrs B, from way back (5 years?)

I closed the last one about a month ago

I'm sure these 6 were not opened when there was a switching offer so:

    1. I assume I should be Ok to open one sole each again and get the bonus when we switch?

    Thoughts?
  • I thought I'd share my experience of switching to TSB.

Honestly, I'd been a little unhappy for a while with my existing account at Co-op Bank -- mostly because their internet banking is quite poor, although the mobile apps are functional.

TSB's £125 switching deal + 5% interest looked more appealing, with the added bonus of more branches & a up-to-date looking online presence.

Through the MSE link, I spent a while completing the application & was offered an account. However, whilst configuring internet banking, I was met with a bizarre, unfixable error message:

"Please enter a valid value" -- but not at all next to any text form.

Via Twitter, TSB suggested I should "retry using a different browser"... meaning there was no way to resume the application, even though I got as far as being asked to configure internet banking! There was no confirmation email at this point either. I had been using Chrome on Mac OS X.

I rang the 0345 number to enquire and was told the same thing, with the added sting that it might hit my credit score twice! Apparently my application was "abandoned"... not by choice.

I went ahead and did it anyway, in a different browser (Safari, Max OS X)... and then I was approved, being given a sort code & account number. I hovered over the current account switch option... and went ahead with it.

It was only after that did I realise that I hadn't signed-up for the account the second time using the MSE link, which I would have happily done (and had done!) if TSB's website hadn't returned an error!

Ringing their team *again*, I was told there was nothing they could do right now as they get a list of accounts eligible after the switch and then they (manually?) apply the extra credit.

Does anyone have advice? I'm hoping that I can raise enough (polite) ruckus that they will give me the switching credit as a goodwill bonus, noting all the contacts I've had with them via phone & Twitter.

Moral of the story: leave yourself a note if you are taking advantage of special links and come up against error messages... and maybe TSB should've tested their website in Chrome on Mac OS X!
  • Leave yourself a note??
Why couldn't you do the second application through the link?

Just open another current account with your previous bank again. This switching business is getting me very confused. I've got 2 switches on the go and have already completed 2 in the last month and all done with donor accounts set up for the sole purpose of switching. I've got so many cards here now I'm not sure which one is which any more.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

I have an old, dormant account with Nationwide, could I just move two DDs to that then use that account to switch?
