Confused about returning items - who pays return?

Hi.
I ordered four dresses yesterday from EverythingforFivepounds. I pay £8.00 for next delivery .
I've tried two dresses and they fit perfectly. The two others( despite actually being one size up) won't even do up so obviously don't fit. I have looked on the website and can't find any procedure for returns, just that they will accept but not swimwear/ underwear:

I am confused who pays for return postage. I thought they did as I paid for it to be delivered ( or they refund me my postage) . But as I only want too accept two things, who is liable for what?

Thank you

Unless they have advised you, by a durable means, that you must cover the cost of the return, then that cost is theirs.
Read all emails from them and any paperwork included in the parcel to see if they say that you must cover the cost of the return.

Usually the seller must refund the original postage costs, but as you are only returning part of the order, they have no need to refund the original postage.

Yep. Unless stated otherwise, you pay.

So I'd have to pay postage twice? That doesn't seem very fair.

    Why is it not fiar?

The products arent faulty, they just don't fit so it's not the shops fault.

If you had to return them to a physical shop then youll have to travel back there, the shop wouldnt pick them up

So are you suggesting that it is fair that the seller pays postage but you decide not to buy the goods?

Other way round. As was posted, unless stated otherwise at the time the contract was formed (by durable means) then the seller has to pay for the return.

Just one slight thing to add to the above.

When the seller refunds the original postage costs, they are only obliged to cover the cost of their standard delivery charge and not any enhanced postal options chosen by the buyer.
In the case of the OP, they stated that they paid £8 for next day delivery so the retailer doesn't have to refund this £8, only the amount that they would normally charge for standard delivery.

What I don't think is fair is that I pay postage twice. I think it would be fairer to have each party pay one way . I ordered 4 dresses. Two size 16, two size 18. The sixteen fit( slightly loose) but the 18 ( and now I'm not an expert) would be 14. If they fitted I would have had them but the size is way out .

So for items costing 5 pounds you want them to pay almost that because you changed your mind. They would be bankrupt in weeks.

If you don't think its fair then online shopping isn't for you.

Pay the return, get a proof of posting receipt and then speak to customer services, explaining what you have here about the sizing differences. Maybe, just maybe they will refund your return postage costs.
