DO not put that Virgin sim in the Samsung, if that is the Virgin payg 'contract' sim you will be charged per MB of data, uncapped, and setting up a new phone could use a lot of data.

For landlines (3 numbers) o2 International Favourites is much cheaper with 3000 minutes for the same £10 - and they can also call you cheap.

Yes, but I have covered both grounds, incase the OP wants to take the burden of cost for calls.

Their price list has a number of issues, not least the failure to state the cost of calls to 070 personal numbers or to declare their Access Charge for calls to 084, 087, 09 and 118 premium numbers along with a number of other breaches of Ofcom's General Conditions.

Hope you reported such to Ofcom.

A real MSE does not call such numbers, not from a mobile certainly.

Vectone will give you a SA local landline number for £5 a month, no calls included but half the price of o2.

  • Thank you all for the very kind help, but I mention at the start that I am struggling to make a decision. This is just adding to that confusion. I was basically looking at O2 because they have the SA option, at 3 because they have the travel option and at Giffgaff because they have a simple to understand bundle.

Currently I have a simple pay as you go. In other words, I just top up some airtime when I need it. It costs me about £10 every month or every second month. However, I don't have a smartphone. My new phone is and so I will now need data and I would like to get some free minutes and texts. I understand that the overseas texts won't be included. So this is on top.

What I want in a nutshell:
    - A bundle that includes some airtime, texts and data
    - That I can cancel with short notice or possibly a longer contract, but I am struggling to decide so a short tie-in would be good for now
    - Overseas texts that are not too expensive
    - A reputable company with good customer experiences

Thanks again for the suggestions so far. Hope you can help a bit more to narrow it down.

Giffgaff PAYG . Stick £5 or £10 on it and then decide what you are using or one of the similar PAYG sims .

DATA is something that will be either paid for from your network or Free over free WiFi .Personally i rarely use paid for data using WiFi for all downloads etc .

(A reputable company with good customer experiences.)

You will find moaners about every company under the sun on here .
