Tax credits cut petition

If spoken to my conservative MP about this ~( Hes a freind) He actually says that alot of MPs from all sides are starting to get itchy feet and if theres a vote of no confidence the decision will be overturned.
I would be astounded if there was a vote of no confidence over this. Like it or not, the tories won the election on the basis of welfare cuts - seems as if many on tax credits didn't realise they were on benefits, and that they'd be hit which is unfortunate but I can't see how it is a basis for a vote of no confidence.0 -
Of course there won't be. There was a specific vote on the tax credits cut, and the govt won it. Why would there now be a no confidence vote on an issue which the HOC has very recently voted for?? The idea is ridiculous.I would be astounded if there was a vote of no confidence over this. I do not agree with the Tax Credit cuts so I have signed up to petition. I do agree CTC should be limited to number of children's - 2 or max 3.
Some people have made it as a business - Working on minimum wage, claiming WTC & CTC - having 7 plus children's. Sending money abroad and enjoying the lifestyle. This should be banned.
I disagree with the Government cutting benefits only for those who are working. This is completely incorrect. I know living wage will increase but £9 an hour will be by 2020 and the cuts are happening just next year.0 -

Therefore I will not be signing the petition.
you do realise that the tax credit cuts only affect people that work?
those that choose to have kids and stay at home are unaggected0 -
Only if they have over £12k of taxable income. I would guess that's a small minority of out of work tax credits claimants.blondebubbles wrote: »Not entirely correct.
Those out of work but not on IS, income based JSA/ESA or pension credits are affected.
Yes pensions will be the main way someone will have £12k+ of taxable income when they're not in work, but how many people still have children under 20 when a pensioner? I guess the main reason would be widow/widower pensions from a late spouse or ill health pensions which can be paid when well under normal pension age. There was an example on another thread is someone on contributions based ESA and a private pension that will be affected.0 -

the people that most dislike receiving the generous CTC are those that have never worked and don't intend to work.
this 'singles' that magically acquire another baby just before their youngest turns 5.
they aren't affected0 -

The cap deals with those, though the 16/24 hours per week with older children are less affected. I agree TC needed sorted though this isn't my preferred way.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -
I'm a single parent of three suffering from Crohn's disease and depression. Since the youngest went to full time school, I've worked full time hours. Luckily I can work 9am-3pm, then do a couple of hours typing from home on an evening so I don't need childcare and my Mam helps out in the school holidays. I'm living in a house with a mortgage.
So my situation means I've worked more hours than expected and I've "saved" the government a fortune as I've not claimed childcare tax credit or housing benefit.
And my reward for pushing myself to do as much as I can to provide for my family? I'm one of the ones who is going to be hardest hit by the tax credit cuts in April
I'm really struggling to see where the incentive to work is. Here I go again on my own....0
