Nationwide mortgage

It will probably be picked up by a number of underwriters as well throughout the process before it gets to the senior underwriter to sign it off.
I feel your angst and worry, we've come through the other side on this house moving lark having sold our house and moved into a new build last week. 11 weeks from start to finish our process, which was good going, but the waiting on the mortgage decision was easily the most stressful part for me personally.
We had an excellent broker who despite our level of debt (of which we've cleared half owing to the sale of the house), was able to get us an excellent rate with NW.

Jess - Just because it is picked up by the underwriters, doesn't necessarily mean they even looked at it. It could be on there desk waiting for them to shift through. Could be that NW haven't employed many underwriters. Could be a number of reasons. I personally don't think it takes that long to make an actual decision and it is just the general wait before the application is even in front of their desk or computer for them to actually read through all the information.0

We have no valuation date yet and haven't paid for it. Broker asked them to hold fire on ordering until they approved mortgage in case they didn't and we had paid for the survey and then we would lose the money...0

Sunny -broker has confirmed they have looked at it as they've Been asking questions on certain transactions within our statements and also req further documentation so we are now back waiting in the queue waiting for it to be picked up again.
There are factors such as self employment, myself being on maternity leave, and a default that makes our case complex so I'm not expecting a fast decision on ours0 -
You can't avoid the valuation fee being collected when the full application is submitted.fairyloveheart wrote: »We have no valuation date yet and haven't paid for it. If you've paid nothing, your application hasn't actually been submitted and is presumably at "DIP Refer" stage.I am a mortgage broker. Fairy - I was advised the same as Kingstreet is saying by our broker, that they wouldn't even look at our application until we paid for the valuation0

Fairy - Has your broker confirmed that your application is now with the underwriters? (even though it doesn't really mean anything IMO).0

Just had a message from my Broker as I asked what the process was for NW. He stated that forums are not always accurate and don't believe all I read lol
Apparently they are reviewing some of my documents that were further sent on 1st October. So waiting game continues... 0 -
