When I did my shopping today, Tesco gave me a free reusable plastic bag.
However they have now stopped giving points when you do bring your own bags!

Endless posts trying to belittle people who are not against this. You are gutted at the thought of buying bin liners :rotfl:. Life really is too short.

I think you will find you have posted more on this subject than I have. Clearly you have rather a lot of emotional energy invested in plastic carrier bags.

Yes they are, but if you put anything else in that bag then they charge you for it.

Sainsbury's aren't, according to information received at the till today. Apparently the view is that raw meat is already in sealed packaging, so does not need an additional bag. And if the customer requests one they are to pay 5p.

Seems a bit of a grey area, I wonder if they are correct?

Pretty much what we do up here, it is either in a sealed plastic box so no bag needed or it is put in a plastic bag at the butchers counter and sealed or secured, that is your free bag.

Perhaps they are trying to smooth out the exceptions so it is one explanation fits all.

But then Sainsburys keeps 3p out of every bag sold and don't pass it on to any charity.

Could there way of gaining a extra few pence at the customers expense.

    Me cynic, never! :D:D

Just a thought, but are plastic bin liners generally degradeable? I can't see any mention of it on the ones I normally use. If not, then I guess I'll be replacing degradeable carrier bags with non-degradeable bin liners in my rubbish. That sort of sounds like a retrograde step to me.
