WWYD? Restaurant forgot to charge us for drinks.

Actually I tell a lie, I remember a rather posh london restaurant in 2008 left 4 fairly pricey cocktails off the total bill...
OH also noticed the scallops at the time had been a bit suspect so we didn't correct that one
On that occasions I think we got £40 of drinks for free but OH was throwing up thru the night... probably about even on that one. Not been back to that place on the latter rather than former issue b)0 -
It was no joke, it was a cheap shot. I've had them that many times on here that its pretty easy to recognise the intention behind it. I've just looked at your threads and your life probably does suck at the moment but unlike you i have no need to take a cheap shot about your missus. If the shoe was on the other foot and i had a cheap shot about you starting another thread about your missus i'm sure you wouldn't be happy about it.
The knife cuts both ways but i'm too nice for my own good and i wont lower myself to that level
A cheap shot? It was offensive to suggest your wife would be a waitress? You feel being a waitress is beneath her?
My friend, you could not upset me, it would not be possible.
I don't see how I took a shot at your missus?
And to clarify I'm (somewhat) young, ( and completely) free and single.0 -
It happened to us on Monday when out with a group. Two main courses were somehow missed off the bill. We told them and paid.0

Generally, it would depend on how good the food/value for money/service was.
Sometimes I have pointed out the error, other times not.
Most recently, a place on a Greek Island missed a 2nd carafe of wine. We left without pointing it out. A few days later, we worried that to go there again they might say something. They didn't.
However, a couple of years ago in Bulgaria, an incorrect order revealed to us that the waiter who took it would be 'charged', so we were careful to ensure they got it right after that. But were equally disappointed that places frequently short changed us on brands and measures.0 -

If we had noticed while still in the restaurant, we'd have queried it at the time. But this was after we got home, and normally I'd have thought "Sweet, free drinks!" and not given it anymore thought. I think because the kids also got free meals and desserts, I felt that even with paying for the drinks it was good value!

But were equally disappointed that places frequently short changed us on brands and measures.
Now that I've once pulled a place up on, measures for a wine pairing were being served 'between two' rather than each for each tasting course.
Called the manager over and after he confirmed that was exactly what our waiter had been doing, I think genuinely by mistake, he was very very apologetic (the restaurant was in a quite smart Australian hotel).
...cue the manager serving us personally for the rest of the evening, a rush of very generous tops ups to over compensate for the earlier short measures, free cheese course on the house and free glass of port each to finish up with too
For some reason the short measure waiter then ended up off of table serving duties and relegated to prominently being stuck behind the bar polishing glassware for the rest of the evening -unsure if that was as a direct result of the incident or not but we were perfectly happy just getting the problem corrected and the drinks we had been paying for0 -
I was once out with a friend in a busy restaurant in London. The service was appalling, the food came out in bits and bobs - for instance, hot food to be dipped coming out 20 mins before dips. And all served with a hefty side order of attitude. I honestly almost just got up and left, but my friend had really wanted to try the restaurant.
When we paid we realised they had missed all our drinks off - there had been quite a few, we'd waited so long! - we both looked at each other and without a word clearly agreed we weren't going to mention it.
On many other occasions, when the food and service had been wonderful, I have pointed out such errors!Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0 -
Tell them. I was undercharged by River Island. I told them and they let me keep the cash.0

Years ago when we were young and impoverished we had a big night out at a restaurant. Lots of food, beer etc. In a touristy place, so moderately expensive, but we knew that and accepted it. A group of about 10.
Anyway the bill comes for 2 meals, 2 child meals and a bottle of wine. We look around and see a family at the next table. Being drunk and young we paid it and hotfooted out of there.
It would be about 15 years ago, and I still feel terrible about it. I always worry that poor girl had to deal with us all, and then maybe was punished for giving us an incorrect bill. So, now I tell if it's short. Hopefully balancing the karma out a bit!0 -
Many years ago, I had a regular Friday morning meeting at varying locations with a friend, and we took it in turns to pay the coffee-and-cake bill.
Then we had about a month of not seeing each other for odd reasons. When we met up again we each claimed it was our turn to pay, and remembering our last meeting, realised that neither of us had paid.
"Don't worry" I said "I'll be by that cafe next week, and I'll call in and settle up".....................only when I got there it had gone out of business! I have spent 40 years hoping our unpaid bill wasn't the last straw!0
