OH and I went out for a meal last night. It was lovely, and when we got home I asked him what the bill had come to so I could record it in the spending diary. When he told me, we realised it seemed too cheap, and got out the receipt which didn't seem to have the drinks included, which might have come to about £12.
Would you phone up and offer to pay? I wouldn't like to think someone got in trouble for the drinks not being included on the bill, but if I hadn't wanted to record the spend then we wouldn't have noticed anyway.

If you don't pay will it be on your mind constantly ?
Call them and say you weren't charged for drinks and offer to pay, they might say to not bother about it.0 -
Definitely call them and pay. You know you've underpaid and as you say, someone might get into trouble for forgetting to add them to the bill.0

Whilst you should pay, of course.
They would only notice if it was bottled produce. So a Bottle of wine, would be noticeable straight away - if they use the sales tracker to restock at the end of the day (like a lot of places do)0 -

They could have been rung up on a separate tab, irrespective of the type of drink.
OP, give them a call. Mistakes like this are often deducted from wages/ tips, it's not fair for someone else to have to lose out.0 -
give them a call and let them know. If the error had been the other way round and they had double charged you, ou would have wanted them to put it right.
It may well be that they simply thank you and tell you not to wory, in which case you can feel comfortable *and* save the cost, and if they thank you and ask you tp pay then you are exactly where you expected to be when you went out for the meal. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
I'd tell them.
We had our hotel bill in New York minus drinks. I told the receptionist, he looked on the computer and found no record, so told us the drinks were on the Marriott. Very nice and a clear conscience.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -

Yes they could've been. - I did say the OP should pay.
From experience working for a major brewery, the employment contract did not allow such deductions. I think most companies have moved on from this practice as it's a grey area in law.0 -
Its not your job to remind them to charge you, too late now, personally speaking i wouldnt give it a second thought0

If the restaurant holds staff responsible for mistakes which costs them money then the member of staff who made the mistake will have to pay for the drinks out of his/her wages. Every waiter on duty that evening will have their own ID to put transactions through such as sending a drinks order to the bar so the manager will be easily able to find out who made the mistake.
I've waited tables when i was younger. The money is crap and losing £12 through a mistake is harsh. It would be nice of you to offer to pay for the drinks

This is redundant clearly:
If it was put through, it would've been on the system already.
So it sounds like its a pen and paper job. This means that the mistake isn't clear.
Is it the waiter or waitress who passed on the slip but didn't enter on to the system, or the barperson who didn't add it on after serving?
As I said, the practice of taking it out of wages is much less used nowadays. Most businesses accept that occasionally there are mistakes, and certainly not worth losing a member of staff over £12 when recruiting someone costs much, much more!0
