I used to know someone who left teabags on the side and then re-ued them later on. Kept re-use until they worked no longer

This reusing of tea goes way back. In the last century ' char ladies' bought used tea from rich households and resold it to poorer people. 'Chai' or 'char' comes from various Asian languages for tea.

Why not just ask for a white coffee with just a splash of milk in it then or a macchiato even?

because some people like to add the milk themselves, my dh always orders a Americano with milk on the side so he can make it exactly as he wants it. Even if he orders a white coffee with not much milk, it generally doesn't come how he like to drink it. So why the big issue if, he is paying for a drink he may as well have it exactly as he likes it he is certainly not a coffee snob just a bit picky.

I'm the same with tea, can't abide milky tea it just ruins it for me.

As long as he pays for the milk (if it's a cafe that charges extra for milk) he can do what he what he wants with his "Americano".

My friend working in Starbucks just felt like a bit of a moron asking people who had ordered an Americano or some other black coffee if they wanted room for milk because black coffee doesn't contain milk. That's why it is black coffee.
  • I'm not sure- then you'd be using water that you have to pay for. Far more frugal to get them all for free in the beginning lol.

When I lived with my ex we went through a really skint patch when we would buy our weekly shop for about a tenner and while at the supermarket would carefully count out 5 fruit and veg bags for him to take him sandwiches in for his packed lunch. Not sure if that's frugal or stealing?

I used to do that at uni! There's no sign to say to only take one bag or that you have to use them for the fruit/veg!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

In the coffee shop I worked at we would call it a filter coffee, and then ask if the customer wanted any type of milk or cream on the side.

I spent several years managing a coffee shop. You soon work out that people have no idea what's what but why be angry that people use the wrong words. I've had some right corkers over the years. Capuccino with no froth anyone? Black cappucino? Latte with no milk? That's when you're like eh...!?

I maintain that if you charge £2 for black coffee and £2.20 for white, you end up with an easier life and happier customers if you just charge everyone £2.20. There's certain things people begrudge paying extra for and a "splash" of milk is definitely one of them.

I had a housemate at university who bought a lightbulb for a communal area for 55p, then demanded 11p from me and the other three housemates. He has gone down in legend amongst us.

A friend I have regularly pops into McDonalds and helps herself to sugars.
Her logic is as she doesn't take sugar, its only for visitors !
