At what age do you reduce gifts down to normal size.

Personally I'd agree with many of the posts above. With the oldest, since he left for university at 18, he has preferred something small with the large part in cash. Now he's left university and has thankfully found work he just wants a little something. We'd prefer to use the money to help him when he really needs it. For example, in a few years, if he needs help getting a deposit together.

We only have 1 and buy what we think she would like - usually jewellery. We still help out e.g moving into her new flat we bought her a tv. She will end up with everything anyway hopefully so just as soon give it her now.
My mum in her 80's still spoils all of her children as she grits pleasure from giving. As long as the receiver appreciates the gift I don't think age matters.0 -
I'm 25, my mother spends approximately £30 on my birthday and £20 at christmas.
It's been like that since I was about 14.
Give your kids £50 each for each event and spend the rest of the money on you!0
