Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Shaz - your message really struck a chord with me. Before my Gran died she was really worried that she wouldn't go to heaven, she was very religeous and it really upset her. One day when she was talking about it she looked at her wedding photo which was sitting on the bedside table and said "that was heaven then and I didn't even know it". She died about 8 years ago and it still brings tears to my eyes thinking about it as my grand-parents had a very old fashioned relationship and never seemed to show each other any affection. It's a good lesson in realising what matters.
Thanks Reverbe, I'm very excited about it but a little nervous as I know he's given up alot to move.

Hello again all. Back from my hols last weekend but not had a chance to catch up on here yet. Will try and catch up with all your posts later today.
Mine for the last few days
1. Weather good when we got back from hols so all washing & ironing done before work on Monday. Phew!
2. DS home for a flying visit last weekend so hectic but lovely. He left on Sunday evening but
3. DS back again on Wednesday, this time with his girlfriend and they are staying until Monday. OH & I just love having them around.
4. Explaining to DH when we were away what a NSD day was. He was quite impressed at how many we had whilst away as I had taken lots of stuff with us and we tend to walk a lot whilst on holiday and take a packed lunch with us, so we had some lovely days with tasty picnics.
5. DS & girlfriend out for a walk at the moment, but they asked if they could come back for some lunch in the garden before going out again this afternoon (quite impressed that they both read MSE and do try).
6. OH leaving me asleep in bed this morning when he left for work but I heard him start the car engine. However, he had left me a cup of tea with an "I Love You" note stuck on it.
Edit - hope Ollie is OK.0 -
Hi Louba and Shaz - lovely messages (and also Ampersand's PM) - one of the many reasons I love MSE is that everyone is so caring and helpful , it's such a lovely community - HUGE HUGS TO ALL xxxx
Louba - thanks for the Homedics recommendation
Shaz - I always get a bit misty eyed when I read that tale or the other variations on it that are floating around, I do try and make the most out of life, am getting better at grabbing opportunities that come my way these days
Mine for so far today:
1. The postman interrupting my typing just now to deliver a free electricity monitor, courtesy of a coupon in the N0TW the other week (which I read about on here, thanks MSE)
2. Getting lots of washing done and dried in the sun - Mr Sunshine, please come back all weekend if you can, I know I'm a lucky bunny to have Fridays off and would like others to enjoy the bounty
3. One of DD's friends unexpectedly coming for lunch today, he's a little poppet, always happy to have him round, they ate like horses and ran around like loonies, I don't know where they get the energy from!
4. DD getting excited about her sleepover (but I've sent her upstairs for a little nap before said friend arrives, she'll need all the energy she can muster, lol). They're going to make their own pizzas for dinner, lots of dough and toppings will go all over the place no doubt!
5. Going to watch Ice Age with them tonight after dinner and hopefully they'll go to sleep easily....0 -
My small (not sure if they all count as OS) pleasures for today:
1) A line full of cloth nappies.
2) Waking up this morning to the smells of pasta sauce in the slow cooker and fresh bread from the BM.
3) A batch of hobnobs (scoffed a few too many straight out of the oven.)
4) Feeding DH who came home filthy from the allotment fresh bread and pate after packing him upstairs to wash!
5) Singing at the top of my voice whilst doing the hoovering. Blush.0 -
Good afternoon. My five for today are very mundane as it's been a quiet day. I enjoy days like this sometimes though as it's lovely to have time to reflect.
1. When I saw my Mum she smelled lovely - a new perfume oil from the Body Shop apparently.
2. A free sample of Bisto stock paste arrived this morning :money:
3. I have planned about 10 cheap lunch ideas ready for the school/college holidays - I'll just rotate them
4. The washing is all up to date :T
5. An hour on here without too many interruptions.
I hope that everyone has a pleasant evening to come xx0 -

Hi :hello:
The last couple of days seem to have been all about work but at least now I can go into the weekend with -
1. The whole house clean and tidy thanks to the wonderful help I have had from DH.
2. The garden looking a picture, DH to thank again for this.
3. The windows clean and sparkling, however did I manage when DH went to work.
4. A rhubarb pie made with homegrown rhubarb, wholemeal date scones and blueberry muffins.
5. The prospect of the time to go to a craft demo tomorrow am and perhaps indulge my card making passion in the afternoon.
Bella.
PS Welcome to all the newbies who have snook in while I wasn't looking, it's great here - keeps your pecker up.A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
Welcome to the newbies, hope you enjoy this very positive sanctuary. No posts are too small or mundane to be added here...it's a little bit of sanity in a crazy world. Or should that be the other way round....?
Recent blessings...
1. DNeighbour asked me to babysit her DD again while she went on another date with the man she met last week. Her DD and I made fishcakes and chips, had gooey mint bubble ice-cream then watched The Aristocats for the nth time and sang along throughout. We both slept well last night!
2. DS phoned to say his future DS-S had an excellent end of year report :T, he's a very quiet little boy and seems quite head-in-the-clouds at times but loves school and everything about it.They obviously know how to get the best from him
3. Went to lunch with DD today and both DGD's were home..study days or somesuch. Had a fun lunchtime watching the girls play tennis on the Wii followed by lots of fusses with all their dogs - they show/breed German Spitz which are funny little creatures each with their own very individual personalities..they're big dogs in small dog's bodies :A
4. Called into the filling station on my way home this afternoon, the very kind man at the next till said he'd forgotten his Nectar card and would I like his points? He'd filled up a Landrover and bought lots of sweets - I said yes please, and thank you, nicely.
5. Was clearing out the room under the stairs today and found one of those huge trolley bags you get in the supermarket (the sort which you can't lift when it's full ), which was full of tins and packets I bought at the beginning of the recession and had forgotten about. I won't need to buy tea, pasta, tinned tomatoes etc etc for ages!
Night night all, sweet dreams, and have a lovely weekend

My five for today are:
1) A warm, dry grey day here, which was perfect for
2) Getting some gardening done. We have a lot to do in this garden and it can seem overwhelming but I cleared half a flowerbed and got four bags of kindling from the conifer I took down
3) Making plans for a coffee with some friends at a really nice coffee shop next Friday. We usually go out for a meal but this is much more frugal
4) Using some reduced-price stewing steak with our own onion, potatoes and salad to make a meal.
5) Having the meal with DH, on our own, with a bottle of wine we had in anyway. Usually, we would have gone out if we were on our own but we are really trying to save these days and to be honest, the food is better for you if it's home made anyway0 -
1) Vacuuming the kitchen whilst 18 mth DS did the same on his doggy hoover
2) Seeing the blossoms on my courgette plant
3) Slow cooker curry n rice
4) Sharing biscuits from the biscuit tin with OH
5) Pureeing blueberries and strawberries to add to mine and ds's rice puddingTaking baby-steps :beer:0
