Five OS Pleasures in your day today

I'm trying sooo hard to do something money saving each day, today has not been too bad so here are my endeavours/pleasures:-
1. Scone at home with cappucino for DH and me before going shopping.
2. Long ride on bus - FREE, I love this bus pass.
3. Bought some 100% cotton dishcloth cotton which I've been searching for - paid £1.80, not:money:then found some in another shop for 99p so bought another ball. Guess what my hostess presents for the coming year will be.
4. Whoops! Chicken, pork loin joint and fruit salad in Mr. A. The fruit salad was a bit of an extra but I had forgotten to make yogurt yesterday and had run very low. The fruit helped to eke it out and it was a delicious treat. Every girl needs a treat sometime.
5. Made two cards this afternoon and hopefully they'll sell and bring in a few pennies.

they were a bit 'heavy' today though.
tudorfan22 - just intrigued by your username. Are you a fan of that period or the BBC tv series?
Here are my five for today:
1) DS1 was awarded his silver award at cubs tonight which is the highest award you can get at cubs. Very proud of him:T
2) Sister's op went well and she's already home. Phew! Felt very touchy about that and had bad dreams last night as it's a year ago on saturday that our eldest sister died.
3) The whole family went to see Night at the Museum 2 - what a great film and very funny.
3) The boys playing out in the lane with the neighbour's children (who are older than the boys but very kindly played with them). This is the first time that they have ever played 'out the front' due to location and they came in full of glee. I remember that feeling when we got to play out with the bigger kids when I was young.
4) Talking to the scout leaders about DS2 starting Beavers in September. He's excited so I'm excited for him.
5) Just the general feeling of family well-being. Such contentment.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hi everyone
Ampersand I freeze buttermilk all the time (I buy 20 litres milk direct from the farmer each month and make all our own cheese and butter, so usually have spare buttermilk)
My five
1. Watching the toy poodle I am dog sitting for a friend chasing my huge collie/working dog around, they take turns to play chase, and its hilarious to watch.
2. Waking up to a deep frost and the log burner blazing, OH had woken before me and built it up, bliss.
3.Its one of those beautiful crisp winter days, no wind and brilliant sunshine, on these days everything seems achievable.
4. Looking forward to the weekend, will be going to the lake on a trout fishing expedition.
5. In anticipation of a successful weekend, browsing my trout recipe collection!
Blessings be

Nighty night all
I'm feeling good tonight
1. DD came back from a few days' holiday with grandparents, a day early - yippee!! We had lots of cuddles and I'm pretty sure she'll creep into my bed during the night to sleep with me - fingers crossed!
2. Having a great chat with a friend at work about all things frugal and introducing her to MSE
3. Knowing that tomorrow another work friend is going to bring me in some plants from her garden
4. Enjoying the sensation of having lost 5 stone now and knowing that I still have a way to go but am definitely well on my way
5. Being given some lovely secondhand clothes, some of which were too big (yay), and others really gorgeous (double yay)0 -
Yes, I already posted, but want to close day well.
Thankyou for buttermilky words and links. In fact, found a pos on the butter making Thread, where strawberry sorbet evolved by happy accident. Will do this with raspberries when they start storming in.
1. Made clementine marmalade, butter and bread. Felt I needed to do the latter, in view of the former:rolleyes:.
2. Enjoyed more Wordsworth while stirring and also saw baby blackbird[only one this year]viciously see his papa off from some little bonne bouche he prized. An element of 'ungrateful little toad' was strongly present in Father's matching fury.
3. No fencepost mix @ B&Q - looks as if it's a sudden Discontinue[and theirs is half the price of Homebase and any others.]But, saw someone's excellent throw en route - a pair of trainers now dangle high above a city road from a power line.
4. Knocked out ancient bay tree which has moved 4 times with me and repeatedly come back from Beyond the Brink-land. to go into long defunct L.A.bin. Amazing to see its survival strategies within. There is absolutely no soil left 5cm below the surface; total hairnet snarl root network and its 20" inner clay pot fractured under pressure like a seismic tilt graph.
5. A happy end to yesterday's Parking £50 ticket, 'earnt' unwittingly[6 minutes]when I helped an older woman who'd slipped on wet grass and couldn't get up at first. She was feeling shaken and foolish simultaneously as she'd been picking weed flowerheads, which were striking and pretty.
Even more gratifying was the unexpected loveliness and manner of the CCC telephone service for tickets. I don't even have to write a letter:j, but have written to thank them.
Au lit; bonne nuit.

I've been reading through this thread tonight and thought it was really inspiring as it's very easy to get caught up in problems and forget to see the good things. I thought I would add my own five things
1 - the smell of washing just out the machine
2 - having taken the time to iron for once I have lots of nice fresh ironed clothes in my wardrobe
3 - I bought a bookcase yesterday and got all my books out of their packing box and onto the shelves (I've just moved). Funny how that seems to have made the palce suddebly seem more like home.
4 - I changed jobs and moved cities in March and have been commuting most weekends to see my partner but he has found a job where I now live and is moving at the end of the month:smileyhea
5 - I spent today sorting files at work, it was all in a bit of a mess and there is lots of paperwork! I know that no-one in the office really cares what my files look like but it means I can find things quicker as I know where everything is. I alsi feel like I am a little closer to making the job my own even if it is just in a very small way.
Sorry if thesee are a little dull!Mortgage as at March 2010 £225,000 target for December 2012 £170,000. Blog link http://beautifulorpractical.blogspot.com/2010/07/oh-this-is-all-new.html :j0 -
Louba not dull at all! its seeing good/positive in the little things as well as the big stuff which makes the world of difference."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0
-
Precisely - its the appreciation of " the little things " in life that makes this thread what it is
We don't need flashy gear or stupendous occasions to make us happy, its finding contentment and happiness in everyday things that's the the trick.
Ok, will have to spread my five rather thinly over yesterday and today.
1) One of the tenants held a little tea party for her neighbour's birthday and invited me. Which was nice, as she wasn't obliged to, but actually wanted me there. Nice time was had by all and gallons of tea ( and sherry ! ) drunk.
2) Felt dead tired and couldn't be bothered to put any dinner together. So a quick trip to the local chippy - now, you may say " well that's not very OS !! " but I very rarely eat takeway of any kind, and what can be more OS than dashing home with a rare treat of chips ( instead of living off the stuff ) clutched to your chest, smelling very appetising and tasting even better when eaten out of the paper with bread and butter and a cup of strong tea ?
3) Having a VERY early night, I mean early, 8pm ! due to being so shattered. I did wake for a while in the middle of the night, but it was lovely and relaxing being awake when it was so still and dark and quiet. I read for a while and listened to Radio 7 and dropped happily back off to sleep after an hour or two.
4) Timing a work visit to a locksmiths in town so I can go and get my shopping afterwards and work will pay for the bus ticketthats 3.60 saved !
5) digging out a recipe for banana nut muffins to use up some of my bargain narners from earlier in the week & finding out I have all the ingredients already and no need to buy any extra, how they will turn out is anyone's guess as I am more of a savoury cook than a sweet one :rotfl:" Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams..
