1. Changing the yellow light low energy lightbulbs for some 20watt-100watt low energy WHITE LIGHT bulbs. They are SO much nicer and I am sure they will help with my SAD.
2. Waking up at 7 this morning to find the sunlight streaming through the bedroom windows.
3. Answering the doorbell 5 minutes later to take delivery of my first Abel and Cole veg order with a free organic fruit and veg box. All the contents look nice and fresh and I am feeling inspired to up my intake of my 5 a day.
4. A nice mug of steaming hot tea and back to bed with it.
5. Opening the heavy velvet curtains downstairs in the front room and seeing quite a few different birds out in the garden.
Have a lovely, contented, happy day.

Was too shattered to post a list for yesterday. Not a very OS day I'm afraid as we had visitors, so we had to put the heating on and feed them beef, but it did yield some OS pleasures.
1. Hearing my visitors appreciation of my home cooking.
2. Cooking a turkey drumstick in same oven as the beef to give us lunches
for a day or two.
3. Having some stock from the turkey to add to my soup today.
4. Being given a bag of apples from a friend's tree.
5. Turning the heating off after visitors had gone and wrapping up in my
fleece etc. I am coming to like it better than the heating.
Off now to work on my OS pleasures for today, think it is promising.

Not done this before, but today I will :
1. Buy the panels for my next raised bed in the back garden (this is next year's onion bed)
2. Change the duvet for the winter weight one and put a fleece blanket under to keep me toasty.
3. Make a batch of lentil soup for the freezer for nice filling lunches to take to work.
4. Put a few more carrots in a spare patch in the veggie plot - may not come up as a bit late but then again they might.
5. Crack on with the scarf I'm making for a Christmas present.
6. Start making a crochet blanket with a lot of the scraps I have in the spare room cupboard.0 -
Today's top five are:
1. Making grapefruit liqueur for the Christmas hampers, hm vodka and neighbours grapefruit.
2. Making Kahlua with more of the vodka.
3. Collecting pine cones in the local forest with DH after work
4.Making toffee vodka with the last of the vodka.
5. Clearing out the last hydroponic system in the greenhouse, sowing heirloom tomato seeds that I saved from last year.
So by day's end hopefully I will have lots of flavoured vodka for Christmas presents and will be organised enough to start the hydroponics up again.0 -
1. Making soup with the leftovers from yesterdays dinner and some stock
from the freezer.
2. Taking washing off the line just two minutes BEFORE the rain came:j
3. Totally cleaning out my two freezers so that now I can start to fill the
gaps that were making me:eek:
4. Making a ready meal from the freezer for tonight with 'one I prepared
earlier'.
5. Having DGS 10 and DGD6 tucked up in bed upstairs (they're staying
for two nights) makes the house feel like a home again.

1. Making chicken and leek pie from leftover roast, plus 6 jam tarts with pastry scraps.
2. Saving tops of leeks for leek & potato soup tomorrow!
3. Starting a patchwork knitted cushion cover for a Christmas pressie.
4. Finding a double patchwork bedcover in my local charity shop for £3.
5. Putting 6 things in my Ebay box to list in the next few days.0 -
Hi all
Kiwiblue your lifestyle sounds really fabulous, can I come and stay for a while?
Anyway, back in good ol'Blighty, not a very OS day today, spent a fortune buying my twins a pair of Nike shoes each online, but hey they only ask me once a year so I don't begrudge it. But dear me, are they expensive or what!
Let me see if I can find 5 today:
1 - Pouring the leftover porridge and veg soup in the "all soups" plastic container in the freezer
2 - Finding and buying 2 very cheap (reduced) packets of sliced mushrooms and deciding that I would treat myself to a little less kitchen work
3 - Receiving a shiatsu session at the shiatsu college and paying £15 instead of £50 because it was done by a supervised student
4 - Ordering music CDs for my son online and he paying me straight back in cash (instead of "mum can I borrow....") - he is really learning to save for his treats (I am the proud mum)
5 - Looking at my daughter's art work that she has started producing in her foundation course (more of the proud mum).
Isn't it wonderful when we stop and think for a moment, how many lovely simple pleasures can be found in one's day?
Love to all and good night
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Today -
1. Using my wonderful slow cooker to make dinner (with enough for leftovers for another night).
2. Making something with the last of my home-grown tomatoes (can't decide whether to make pasta sauce or dry them to store in oil - decisions, decisions)
3. Getting round to doing the bed (did DD's yesterday instead of ours!)
4. Finding the yarn and pattern I have stashed away to make a hooded cardi for my great-niece for Christmas
5. (If time after all that) bottling up one of the demi-johns of wine from the spare room.0 -
Today:-
- Watching DS do craft and make little men
- Baking a cake to take to a friends house to say thank you for having us
- Looking out of the window so see such a pretty frost
- Making pancakes for breakfast and watching the children make faces with them
- Making a friends day by arranging to go and see them on friday
