    Evening all
Have been AWOL this week as been busy making things to put in my online shop, I'm having a giveaway for the opening and have got 20 followers now - hopefully they might buy something too :)
Bella - enjoy your hubbys retirement. The lie ins sound great, DS sleeps in on nursery days and gets up at 7am at the weekend!!!
Reverbe - I probably only have 1 or 2 really close friends but blogging has enabled me to make friends whilst I've been at home with DS. I'm visiting one when we're on holiday, and another friend I met online is getting married in 2 weeks and we're going to her wedding!!!
Anyhoo, here's my blessings for the last few days.
1.My ankle is on the mend - yay!!!
    2. Went for a quick hobble round Mr Ts and got all clothes i needed for DS for hols. He even chose himself a new shirt for my friends wedding :)
    3. I wanted a couple of new tops for my hols, I bought two new tops from Ebay for the princely price of 99p and £1.04!! (However, staying at home whilst getting better is costing in online fees - oops!!)
    4. Had a lovely reassuring chat with neighbour today, my boy is starting school in Sept and her boy is a year older but will be in same class. Apparently he's told her he's excited about it and will look after my DS - bless!!
    5. DH has built and filled the raised beds, look great.
    6. The cut and come again salad is nearly ready to eat.
    7. going on hols in 2 weeks - woohoo!!
Well that'll do for now. Have a great weekend.
    JM x

Evening, I am enjoying finishing the day reflecting on the good parts so here goes:

    1. It was sunny for DS3 school fete
    2. Not being on the PTA anymore so no stress of the fete
    3. pizza for dinner which is a TMF
    4. lovely fresh lettuce leaves from the garden
    5. sharing a bottle of half price wine with lovely neighbours
    this evening.

Wishing everybody a happy day tomorrow, Dusty x

  • Hi all
Back after a few days in our windy, wet capital.
My five for the past few days.
    1. Helping DD and SIL move into their new home, my urbanite, sophisticated daughter is reverting to a country bumpkin, great to see.

    2. Visiting DGS's creche and DGD's school. Had a great time being grandmother to them and their friends. DGD's teacher was so pleased to see me, apparently grannies are a rare breed in todays mobile, and often single parent families.

    3. The jerseys I knitted for DGS and DGD are perfect fits, and they like them!

    4. Other DGS liked the 'dragon scarf" I made hime, and wore it to show his cousins.

    5. DD and I went shopping at a department store which had a 60% reduction on all sale goods, so I bought quite a bit for Christmas.

    6. OH has taken his boat, collected a couple of friends and gone fishing for the day, so hopefully shashimi will be on the menu tonight!

    7. Friend has just dropped around a large bag of carrots and parsnips, so will need to find some interesting recipes.

    Blessings be

    Jennie

    Mine for the weekend:

    1. Going to DD's soon to be school fete yesterday and having a lovely, if rather expensive time (oh well, it's all for a really good cause)
    2. Being astounded at the amazing outside space that DD will enjoy at school, I'm so happy she's going to that school :)
    3. The sunshine
    4. Thanks to my lovely weightloss, having a great time "shopping" through my bags of clothes in various sizes that I'd hidden away as I couldn't fit into them, and finding more nice clothes.
    5. Looking forward to going to a fairy festival with DD today and hopefully meeting up with an old school friend and her niece.

Now, just need to take some extra-strength painkillers to get my back through a long day mooching and dancing with fairies (my body didn't like standing around and walking too much at the fete yesterday, grrr...) and I'll be ready to face the world!

    Love to all x

Good morning all :hello: - another lovely day here and hope it's the same for everybody else :).

    - good luck with your resident woodpigeon, Primrose - we have lots of them around here too (edge of 'urban' countryside IYKWIM and close to a Safari Park). Get those strawbs netted quick hun - or you'll have none left. Hope you enjoyed your new sausages .
    - sorry to hear you've been feeling down, newlywed. I hope it's not a regular thing for you. Have to admit that it's not something that I have much experience of - apart from when I used to get PMT/PMS. But those days are now well behind me ............. thank God. Back then, my solution was always 'chocolate' - well it worked for me! Are you able to get out in the fresh air for a bit of a walk? I've heard that can be quite helpful - ((((((HUGS)))))) for the time being anyway. That was good news about the car - didn't cost as much as you thought :j.
    - well done on the 'free' plants, JaySL! I'm looking forward to learning those tricks myself. Looking at my pot of lilies, I may be able to do it next year - last year was the first time of growing them for me, but this year the pot is looking a bit crowded.
    - laundry, soup-making and baking what a good productive day for you, SunnyGirl :). You both deserved your movie watching time ;).
    - good hear your ankle is on the mend, jollymummy! My dgd1 is starting 'big school' in September as well - it's good to know that there'll be somebody there who'll 'look out for them' isn't it. They're so used to being the 'big kids' and then suddenly they become the 'small fry' again - scarey experience for them.
    - hi Dustykitten - glad you enjoyed your 'stress-free' school fete - I remember them well (though it's 20+ years ago for me ).
    - welcome back from your trip, kiwi - isn't it great when your dgk's appreciate their 'knitted with love' gifts. Hope you OH brought home the [STRIKE]bacon[/STRIKE] fish for the table :j.
    - congratulations on the weightloss, Kittikins - that's great hun. Make sure that you get rid of your 'big clothes' as you go along! Enjoy the 'fairy festival' - sounds lovely.

    Some blessings from yesterday:

    1. Managed to sort out the seedlings - transplanting was well overdue :o.

    2. Baking a yummy loaf of bread (OK so it was from a packet mix - but it was such a sense of achievement :j) - luckily we don't have any 'butter' in or it wouldn't have lasted past the afternoon. Last time I tried to bake bread was during the bread strikes of the early/mid 70's - and it wasn't very successful then. Just realised that's about 35 years ago  - I refuse to be THAT OLD!

    3. Laundry all washed and line-dried in the sunshine.

    4. Chilli made with Turkey Mince for evening meal last night - DD arrived for a flying visit and took the remainder home in a Takeaway container. OH wondered where his supper had gone to :rotfl:.

    5. Phone call last night from DS2 asking me to have dgs's 2&3 (Dylan 'The Villain' nearly 8 and Billy-blue-eyes 10mths) for the day. No money in bank/pocket/purse/piggy bank/down back of sofa, so it'll be a trip to the local playground for a couple of hours. (Please God, let him remember to bring the pushchair with them!)

    6. Took a Turkey Drumstick out of the freezer last night. It's now sitting in the SC on top of onions, carrots, swede, leeks with chicken stock cubes and celery salt. This method is a first for me, so not sure how it'll turn out - sure smells good though .

    7. LOOKING FORWARD TO PAYDAY TOMORROW :j:j:j! The last one was while we were on holiday - and it's been a 5 week month.

Have to admit though, that things haven't been too bad - thanks :T to this site :money:, and these threads, my freezer/cupboards have been well-stocked and we've ridden out the last couple of penniless weeks.

Hope everybody else is enjoying some sunshine today and able to spend time in good company - speak again later - love Ollie xxx

Missed a few days but back now to relate the past few days blessings...

    1. IMHO the NHS shouldn't be so slated, it's wonderful! It's cost me nothing to get back on top of copd whereas in other countries I'd be paying heavily in health insurance just to cross the threshold of the A&E dept. This amazing free service is a true blessing :)

    2. A lovely neighbour came in and did lots of little jobs for me which included things like drilling, which I don't have the power (pun intended ) to do - I always said men have the brawn, women have the brain :o.

    3. Hilarious phone call from DS which really brightened my day, re the football match he ref'd recently between two teams of prison warders. He said they were the most cheating, artful bunch he's ever come across :D

    4. The Avon lady giving me a gift that came with another customer's order but she didn't want it, so told the AL to give it to me as she knew I'd been after one for ages. What a lovely lady!

    5. It's a warm and sunny morning, my 'sunshine' garden (all yellows and whites this year) is looking radiant, the cats are basking upside down as usual, and the dog is in the middle of the lawn happily chewing his pigs ear _pale_. All is well again...

Wishing you all Sunday blessings, hugs

  • Back from a hectic mini break in Barcelona and we all had such a great time. A huge difference from our little sleepy village :D

My 5 pleasures are all to do with coming home:

    1) Apparently it has been a rainy week in the UK while we were away - we came back to a glorious sunny day and all my veg plants had really benefitted from the rain.
    2) Some money from a cashback site and another payment cleared in my bank while I was away so that was a nice surprise to come home to.
    3) Bought some crab cakes, kipper paste and smoked trout from a fishmonger in Sheringham - all at a really reasonable price.
    4) Listening to the Flamenco cd we bought in Barcelona and re-living the fab show we went to. DS2 would now like to be a flamenco dancer when he grows up - could be a first - a blonde mop-top dancer!
    5) The house being lovely and clean and tidy on our return - all thanks to the weekly Flylady routine.

Wishing everyone else many pleasures and blessings this weekend.

    Hi all,

What a lovely weekend I have had! It was the twins' 20th birthday yesterday and so many pleasures are revolving around this wonderful event!

    Yesterday:

1 - DD and DS's 20th birthday, I got up early and went to M&S and bought sliced cheeses, assorted meats, fruit juices, apricot custard danish slices, a couple of bunches of roses and a bottle of rose` cava, went back home and prepared a fancy fancy breakfast. They could not believe their eyes when they came into the kitchen, they both said that "it looks so Italian"! As there were three friends of theirs as well we had a lovely breakfast party all together. One of the friends commented that this was a really posh breakfast - exactly what I had intended to do - GREAT!

2 - After the breakfast splurge (ah but one's twins are 20 only once in a lifetime!) I went bargain shopping for DD's BBQ party, got loads of nice cheapies and bargains in Lidl and the veg sausages in Sainsburys were down by 25% so I got loads of stuff.

3 - After bashing around shopping and dragging stuff back home for hours a really long refreshing shower, face treatment, leg shave and ready to face the world again.

4 - Having bought stuff for DD's party I decided to give the equivalent amount to DS so he could take a few friends for a pizza. He was truly delighted and his smiling thanks were a true pleasure for me, to see him so happy!

5 - Time for DH and me to celebrate the achievement of having brought up these two delightful young people for 20 years, we decided to make ourselves scarce from DD party and went to a fancy restaurant in Blackheath, where we were also joined by a dear friend of mine who came for a glass of wine. We had a truly enchanted evening.

6 - The walk back home in the balmy summer evening across the heath.

Yesterday we really bent the plastic fantastic so we are going to have to be more careful for a while now - but we really do not regret any of the expenses, it was a magic day for all of us!

    Today:

1 - Homemade breakfast, pancakes with fresh cream and h/m berries coulis (cooked and pureed "basics" frozen berries with a bit of water and sugar). Family and friends (still hanging on from yesterday's party) all loved it! Goes to show how it is not always necessary to do the Big Posh thing, a simple homemade one is just as good and just as welcome!

2 - Another lovely day, all the towels in the wash and now nice and dry outside in the sun.

3 - More gardening, bought a couple of herbs (basil and mint) at the farmers market and made a hanging basket with the frame I recovered from a skip and an old plastic bag.

4 - Went for a walk with DH, popped into Sainsburys to look for bargains and founds loads of organic loaves reduced, so I stocked up the freezer.

5 - Had a free Starbucks voucher so I treated DH to a Dark Berry Frappuccino while I shopped.

6 - DH is going to cook as I just cannot be bothered tonight!

    Good night everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Oh yes Olliebeak, the charity shop is doing very well out of me at the moment, as things get too big, they're going out the door, never to return!

    Mine for this evening:

    1. Recently back from the fairy festival...it was lovely, helped DD and friend's niece make headdresses and wings with a lovely friendly fairy in a yurt (was really good to get out of the blazing sunshine for a moment or two)
    2. The sunshine (wondering how pink I'll be in the morning but not caring, will have a lovely cool shower once I've put DD to bed)
    3. Getting a silly glittery temporary tattoo on my foot, every time I look at it, I smile
    4. Lovely text from a friend, who I kind of had a meltdown with on Friday when I was feeling miserable, feeling more uplifted now
    5. Managed to not spend too much money at the festival - phew!

Like a few others, I've struggled to find my bright side let alone to look towards it :o for a few days. Today has been different tho so here's a little list of various things that have kept me going.
Seeing my bestest best mates for the first time in eight months since they moved! There's a very good chance I will be going to visit them in the next month or two.
Getting the all-clear letter yesterday from my first ever breast screening :j
Two lush legs of lamb & enough odds & ends of various steak to make FIVE dinners of 5 portions for thirty quid from the market. One leg will be for No1's birthday dinner later in the week & the other will probably come in for :santa2:
Having all the gubbins to make a lovely salad to go with today's steak & chip dinner.
    Mark Harmon in NCIS
Tracking down my cousin via his daughter on a well-known web-site :T even tho I'm a real teccie novice.

I'm sure there are a lot more, including the way my luvverly pets love me for just [STRIKE]feeding[/STRIKE]loving them first. :o
    Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;
loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.
