Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you Natty for last week's thread

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

Some of our abbreviations: DH- dear husband, OH- other half, KH- affectionate term for ex husband or partner ;) DS/DD- dear son/daughter, DGC- dear grandchild, WM- washing machine, DW- dishwasher, LR/DR- living/dining room, RoD- room of doom, Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al- supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!

Remove floor gubbins. Yes, you, that pile over by the door. Does it live there? I think not!
Now do the same with the unnecessary worktop clutter! There you go! Well done!
Level 2
Give the work tops and cupboard fronts your attention (with a cloth, don't flutter your eyelashes at them ;))
Shine your sink, flylady basics :)
Splash backs and greasy tiles? Yep, swishy there too!
Level 3
Pop the bin and doormat outside, and sweep and mop your floor
Wipe over the small appliances
Extras:
  • Descaling. Kettle, iron, taps - get the vinegar out!
  • Wipe over your big appliances
  • run the WM and/or DW on a hot wash to keep its insides happy ;)

Then dewebbing and dusting the fluffy surfaces
And then vacuum...

    oooh first in!

and kitchen is on my personal list, too. I should have some mornings at home this week so I am hoping to put the house to rights.

DS's room has been thoroughly 'bottomed' - every - and I mean EVERY piece of furniture has been cleaned on all surfaces and moved and cleaned behind and under. Window cleaned; skirtings cleaned and suspect marks on carpet rubbed vigorously. I have a carrier of stuff to go into recycling inc. 4 empty aftershave/cologne bottles. I have flung a sack in the black bin, too.

I have also located a box of DD's pots; this explains why she has no mugs or glasses! DD's spare single duvet has gone on the shelf in the-cupboard-on-the-landing (where the tank once was; it isn't an airing cupboard but its very useful); the 'other' spare duvet has been bagged up and put away. I have put the 'flop out' chair/bed in the car - it IS going to the dump. It hasn't been used for over a year and it doesn't fit anywhere. I will take it on my way to work (two birds and all that).
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

  • Evening all,

I'm in, and thanks v. much for the list bossy. By the way, I can sympathise re homework. My DD's are yr1 and yr3, DD1 gets quite a lot now and it has seriously nearly taken her all day today, she gets soooo distracted.
Hugs to all those missing children at uni, it must be awful (on the plus side there seems to be some major flying happening).
Not done bad today, apart from cracking the whip with the homework I have hoovered whole house, mopped and dusted living room, mopped kitchen, hall, stairs and bathroom. Cleaned kitchen work tops, doors, appliances etc. Internet food shopping, OH installed some 'mood lighting' in new bathroom. Me and kids think it is more like disco lighting:cool2:
Then a very nice couple of hours at the park to round off the weekend.

Here's my list for Monday (long day of the paid stuff)

    Daily stuff
Remove floor gubbins. Yes, you, that pile over by the door. Does it live there? I think not!
    Shine your sink, flylady basics
Pop the bin and doormat outside, and sweep and mop your floor

Thanks for the list Bossy :D I shall be in especially as we are in a unfamiliar place this week. And I do want to keep the cottage nice and tidy..although not sure how much we can with the two dogs wandering all over the place...lol

Piggers I love the little hat, it's gorgeous :D

Well as you can tell we arrived safely..apart from the following, and I apologise to those that have already read this on my FB..

Had the journey from hell today. First of all the M25 had traffic jams, M11 Duxford air show traffic and then a car crash, A1(M) shut due to major crash, and then the diversion from hell through Grantham with no-one directing you so you had to guess where you were going. Then my clutch starting to smell going up and down some horrendous hills over Yorkshire Downs. And then to top it off being stung by a wasp on my arm. Cannot wait till bed...lol
All I will say is I slept really deep last night, as did DH and the two dogs :D But we were woken up by the steam train arriving in the station - the station is literally out the front of the cottage. DH is in absolute heaven as you can imagine :D

We went and found a nearby Morrisons for some extra shopping, and then decided to stop off in a really sweet little pub, with fairly few people in it, in a gorgeous little village. Wow the portions were out of this world - much better than back home. If the food is like this in all the places we eat I will have to go on a diet when I get home..lol

I think tomorrow we are going to go to Whitby, I loved it there last time we were up here, and a friend has recommended a pie and mash shop to eat. Plus I want to do a bit of sight seeing before the weather changes :D

I thought I would update you all, especially as there is WiFi in the cottage, which really makes a change. It's weird actually being able to use the internet here...although not as fast as at home :rotfl: Going to sit down with a cup of tea and watch Downtown Abbey with two dogs at my feet and DH playing solitaire on his tablet :D

    Hugs to everyone xxxx

I'm in too. Thank you for the threads and your company x

Ds2 has been grumpy today. I'm not sure if is because his brother has left or that he was left home with my friend yesterday.

I need to fill up the car with petrol in the morning so I can see how much the uni trip cost.
    Need to switch utilities urgently
    Look into car insurance renewal

    Restarting diet Wednesday ;)
  • I'm in. Didn't get all the flying done last week as RL kept getting in the way, but eveything looks OK.

New sofa and chair cover arrived, and I ordered the extra cover for the old sofa. Kerching:o At least it was all covered by the savings I made in Utilities and Insurance last week.

Thanks Natty for last week and bossy for this week. I also have a 'bric a brac', and toiletries/perfumes Charity bag. Lots to be cleared out this week.

piggers Love the hat. And the child in it is cute!
