the Palladium card does look interesting, physically..
but yes, all about the best deal really...still focused on Amex Cashback in our house.
i've never had a Gold Card, they've hardly been around for 20 years or so now.. most have been 'Platinum' since then, or no 'metal' at all...
what bank provides the "Private" card Paul?

This seems ok from Adam & Co:

  • That is a good point, I guess if you are rich you don't need a credit card. So if you have a special credit card, you are not rich enough, just a wannabe.:D:D:D

    Representative 45.6% APR (variable).
    This is ridiculously high

£750,000 to open an account with the bank.
Whose idiot want to deposit £750,000 of their cash earning very little interest

    £10,000 mim limit.
You could easily get this one with other credit card as well nowadays.

Other real benefit worldwide travel insurance
Well you could easily get a worldwide travel insurance for less than £100.

One of my first jobs used to pay me a cheque every week.
They used to give me a Coutts cheque. My mum insisted on framing it along with my first £50
I'd never heard of them (15 years ago)

At work I see all different types of cards private banking , gold, black etc nothing really has impressed me apart from my mums transparent Amex green card. Now that's pretty cool.

Probably an articifial figure because it includes the annual fee.

I used to do business in Taiwan when I was in my 20s. I had an Amex Platinum card (before the black card came out). This, combined with the way I dressed and the kind of hotel I stayed in did add to my credibility - compensating for my young age. Credit cards were quite rare in Taiwan at the time.

Things have changed now. With chip'n'pin spreading worldwide, people often don't see what card you have. Holding a gold, platinum or black-coloured card means little to many.

I was on a long-haul flight sitting next to a bloke that owns a small island, has a couple of yachts and is a director of a listed company. He bought some duty free. He paid using a Nationwide Select card and pointed out to me that they didn't charge for foreign transactions. I whipped mine out and at last I could match him! No Black for him...
  • Sounds like an intresting 20's lol.

In 10 years I doubt plastic cards will exist, or will be very rare.
  • The majority of my friends and colleagues pay with debit cards (despite my trying to convince them otherwise!), I've noticed, and couldn't care less about the contents of their, or anyone else's, wallet!

Whilst I insist on using credit cards for everything, domestically and internationally, this is based on the benefit the card offers, vs the colour (or indeed material!) the card is. I didn't even consider a downside of using an Aqua card (3% Cashback, no forex fees) last year, whilst it was available, than any of the multicoloured Amex cards in my wallet!

..Also you will find out the one who demand a higher credit limit is the one who actually in trouble in managing their finance.

i wouldn't agree with that. some people are genuinely 'in debt'. others use the debt wisely and have taken time to build up the credit line.
