Correct and I do a Virgin account too.

START BUTTON >> CONNECT TO >> SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS >> SELECT THE ACCOUNT >> CLICK DIAL

I do have to do an extra step as I dissable my modem in device manager and only activate it when I am doing the above or sending a FAX from PC.

I have a Freeserve email address that I was collecting emails from until 2 days ago and now needs to be reactivated as I hav'nt sent any emails from it for some time, because I use another ISP for my Broadband that won't alow it..............

If the account is gone it may be gone for good niow, if the OP didn't bother to access it.

Yes you can I do it, what you do is:

    Incoming mail (pop3) = pop.wanadoo.co.uk.
Outgoing mail (SMTP) = set that to your BB isp setting.

So it comes in on Orange and goes out on your broadband SMTP.

    Virgin = pop.virgin.net

But I made it a bit clearer :)

Mind you I had to be told a few times before I got the idea a few years back.
  • I have exactly the same problem as aardvaak.

I have had an email address (freeserve.co.uk) for years and everytime it expired I would just go the the orange site and re-activate it.

Now the site has changed so you have to login first, which you cant do because the email account has expired and therefore the login details are not recognised.

Hence I cannot activate it online, so I phoned the 50p / min line to be kept waiting for ages, then was told the account was now deleted.

This was only 2 days after it stopped working.

So in short orange are no longer allowing old accounts to be activated and delete them, plus they now make you phone them so they make some more cash.

Sods, I have had this email for so long, I just can't imaging the knock on effect of the emails I will miss, no forwarding to a new address, just gone.

Personally I think that you are a little naive to expect your old ISP to provide you with a free e-mail account, that you obviously didn't use that much.

Don't use ISP e-mail accounts, there are plenty of other alternatives available.
