BT - Is it possible to get a better deal ?

I've been with BT since Nov 2013. Currently paying £24.45 for BT infinity 1 unlimited and £5 for BT Sport plus £4 to have it in HD through Sky.
The current new customer price for the exact same broadband package is £12.50 (or £10.50 through some comparison sites). This is not a promotional price for a few months. Just tried to haggle with BT and after being cut off twice I was offered it for £18.50. Have I been unlucky or is this the norm with them?0 -
I knew I could get a better deasl with Talk Talk but my sister was with them and said the service was terrible, the speeds unreliable and their customer service left a lot to be desired.
This is why I stayed with BT.0 -
Her TT connection would not have been your TT connection .Likewise you BT connection would not have been her BT connection . So much depends upon users factors and line quality .Find a reliable connection and stick with it or continually jump ship and try to drive the price down .0

Just an update :
It has now been almost a month since my new contract was renewed and no sign of the Love2Shop vouchers so I rang to chase them. First of all she asked if I had renewed online or on the phone. When I said on the phone she said you don't get Love2Shop vouchers if you do the renewal on the phone. When I told her that I was told by their CS agent that the offer was open to me as I had rung to cancel the contract and she made the offer to get me to sign up to a new contract she went off to check and came back to say that she would email the appropriate dept to chase up the vouchers but it would take 30 days to send them out.
My reason for this update is that this is the second time this has happened. I was told last year too when I rang to cancel that I was entitled to the new offers open at that time and when they didn't materialise and I chased them up, they told me I was not entitled to them as the renewal was done on the phone. It is obvious that they make these offers on the phone to keep their customers but either don't hand over that new info to their other CS agents or they don't put it in your record, so that the next time you ring they refuse you the offer.
It's time BT got their act together and stop telling people lies !0 -

I only became aware that BT offer 'loyalty' vouchers by reading your posts. I can confirm we received an email confirming the vouchers had been ordered and they physically arrived last week with a message about 'thank you for chosing to remain with BT'.
So thanks once again and I hope you get this sorted.0 -

I'm on BT Infinity 2 package with BT Sport via Sky - paying £29 plus the £5 & £4 for HD
As my line rental is due renewal this month am thinking of haggling - is it just as straight forward as telling them want to cancel and see what will offer (if anything?)0 -
An interesting thread.
I've been a BT BB customer for several years, and they've been promising that our exchange would get increased fibre capacity since July, and finally yesterday I discovered that it had happened.
I wouldn't touch TT with a bargepole, so it's a choice of staying with BT or moving to PlusNet.
I spent probably about 20/30 minutes on the phone to BT.
The contract was reduced to 12months from 18.
The £39 activation fee was waived.
The Caller Display charge of £1.75 would be cancelled, but only after a contract had been signed!
The end result is £18.16pm for unlimited Infinity 1.
With the extras, it works out at £501.48 over 18 months. However, the same package with PlusNet seems to work out at £335.70.
Interestingly, the BT call was answered almost immediately. I called PlusNet to confirm they're package, in particular whether there was an activation fee as there was no mention of it in the online package, but I gave up after waiting about 20 minutes for my call to be answered!!!David.0 -

Our vouchers finally arrived a couple of days ago so now sorted0 -
Is their a particular number to call BT on to try to haggle over their BB/phone package?0

Just ring their normal BT Customer Service No. and when asked what option you want you select "Termination of your BT contract", then you will be asked why you want to leave and they should offer you a package to stay but always leave it until a couple of weeks before your contract is due to come up for renewal, that's what they told me to do every year because their offers change day on day.0
