BT - Is it possible to get a better deal ?

When did you get the router ??
As i understand the new method of transfer its Sky that inform BT of the date as they handle the transfer .0 -
I have already told them I will be leaving them to go to Sky but they didn't say there will be any costs for the router.
Do I need to go back and confirm this with them before I notify Sky to change me over as I understood that as long as I had told BT they would take that as my cancellation date ?
They didn't tell me either until I had an email from BT saying that they had had a notification from the Post Office saying that I would be swapping over. If you have fulfilled your contract there is no charge.
I see that you've been with BT for 3 years so maybe the router charge does not apply to you?0 -
Just rang BT to check if there was any charges for equipment if I cancelled and the CS agent said no but wanted to know what I had been offered by the previous CS agent when I said I wanted to cancel. I explained that they had offered me £5.35 off my mthly subscription but nothing else. She offered a complete package (she said packages change every few days and she could offer more) with £50 vouchers and basically it still works out that i would be £6.49 per mth better off with Sky plus they offer £100 M & S vouchers against BT's £50 Love to Shop vouchers, so altogether I would be saving £127.88 with Sky. BT do offer a £20 saving on the Line Rental Saver upfront payment though which brings the saving down to £107.88.
The BT agent also said that Sky do not offer a Customer Service if your line has a fault and they (Sky) are responsible for the repairs and downtime and don't credit the customer for days lost whereas BT do !
So now I have to weigh up whether this last concession is worth £107.88 saving with Sky ! I have 14 days to decide whether to keep the deal or reject it0 -
I'm following this thread with interest as my annual contract is due for renewal in the next week.
Last year I paid the following:
Line rental saver £159.84 (£13.32 per month)
Unlimited Broadband £7.05 and Anytime calls £5.30 per month.
I can't believe that the line rental has increased to £194.28 or 22% annual increase.
I'll give them a call in the next few days. Very interested to hear about the Love2shop vouchers as I didn't realise BT offered this.
My other choices are Post Office and TalkTalk.0 -

Make it tomorrow if you can as the agent told me the deals change every couple of days and she couldn't guarantee that if I rang back tomorrow the same deal would be available, although she said they are having different deals all the time just the same as Sky and everyone else.
I was told by someone else that BT didn't do "deals" and discounts but she denied it and said you need to ring after about 11 months of your contract to see what they can offer and keep on checking because the deals change, so don't hang around !0 -

What a load of rubbish. If your line has a fault then Sky will report that fault to BT Openreach just in exactly the same way as BT will do. BT retail and BT Openreach are not the same company and BT retail does not have any priority over any other company for repairs by BT Openreach.
As to downtime you can ask Sky for a refund for any service not delivered.0 -

Thanks for the info.
Just to clarify the £7.05 I have been paying for broadband for the past 12 months was a deal offered to me in exchange for a new 12 months contract (£9.95 discount).
I'd be tempted to stay for the football but as I watch via sky the number of times I had to phone up due to the picture disappearing was too much hassle.0 -
It was probably part of their sales speel I guess so I will bear that in mind when considering whether to keep the deal !:)0

I'm with TT, for years, unlimited BB and unlimited anytime calls.

Paying at present £2 per month only(.including along standing £5 discount).for years now.
Paid line rental upfront last year £172.
going up to £191.I couldn't renew to beat the deadline.60 day rule.
Your package,( same as me) is now £7.50 pm with TT.until november according to letter from them.
I'm awaiting notification of a hike.????
I don't want to move unless I have to.better the devil you know
Don't they give a load of speil on retention team.:D
I don't like talking to them, but, needs must, when I have to.0 -

Offer was £12.50 for broadband and anytime calls. I mentioned the voucher and the agent went to speak to his manager then offered £50 so thanks for the info
Total £294 for the year, including the voucher.
Talktalk is £136 including new customer incentive and £100 voucher so a massive difference.
If it was gas/elec it would be a no brainer but I think we'll be staying with BT as (touch wood) thier service/speeds are very reliable and customer service is excellent when there is a problem.0
