BT - Is it possible to get a better deal ?

Options
I have been with BT for phone and BB for 3 years and pay yearly upfront but every year they increase the charges. Is it possible to negotiate a better deal or am I forced to switch suppliers.

Has anyone managed to get a discount for staying with them ?

I like up to 17Mbm I don't have Infinity but do have Unlimited Anytime calls and I know some companies charge extra for the calls so I am wondering if switching is going to be cheaper bearing this in mind as my package includes the Anytime calls with BT. Their charges are increasing I believe in September and I am already paying £24.45 per month after the yearly upfront payment of £159 last year.

Can I get a better deal ?

I am not sure exactly what you have with them but for comparison I have just got a better deal with BT for renewing my contract. Not sure whether I thought it was ok, others may disagree.

    Infinity 1 BB
    evening and weekend calls
entertainment package with the tv, BT sport etc
    £20.97/month

and I pay my line rental upfront too.

Well I don't have TV with them but still pay more than this just for BB up to 17Mb so I would say you do have a good deal.

I am sure I am paying too much but most of the companies don't seem to offer Phone calls "Anytime" up front with the package and incur additional charges so it varies all over the place. I just want phone line, anytime calls and BB up to 17Mb.

Isn't there a site which lets you pick what elements you want in a package and then gives you the search results in order of cheapness ?

I am not sure I can make it much clearer what I am on, and how much I pay in my post?
  • I have a BT landline and unlimited Broadband, which were costing £16.99 and £15.99 respectively.

Following their recent price increase, I rang to cancel my service and they offered the following, which I accepted:

    No reduction on landline rental.
Unlimited broadband reduced to £5 per month for 12 months.
Free BT Sport Euro for three months.

Did you pay an upfront annual payment for the phone line in addition to your monthly payments? Is your phone package unlimited anytime calls?

If you are asking me: No and no.

I will likely be leaving BT after my 1 year deal as they don't appear to offer anything to stay, I wonder if they offer anything better in the 14 day cancellation period?

To answer my own question, they don't apart from a reduction on the broadband to £5.85 pm.
Also note that if you leave your contract early, even just by one day they will charge you £55 for the router, I have had to change the start date with Post Office Telephony.
I also had BT Sport on Sky but you have to cancel that separately or they will still bill you for it.

I have already told them I will be leaving them to go to Sky but they didn't say there will be any costs for the router.

Do I need to go back and confirm this with them before I notify Sky to change me over as I understood that as long as I had told BT they would take that as my cancellation date ?
