Do you supply lunch to tradesmen working in your house?

My plumbers dropped enormous 'hints' about a bacon butty if they worked on Saturdays ... like a mug I gave in and did bacon and fried egg ones!!!
I agree with having to buy a bag of sugar! One bag usually lasts me about a year but with renovations going on I was buying one once a month

I tend to offer a sandwich for the sake of politeness. But when I have done, they've usually said no, they have something with them.0

I always offer tea, I don't offer food as I'm far to disorganised to have enough food in for anyone other than myself!Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

Slightly off-topic but I heard of a group of workmen who asked the lady of the house - newly moved from down South to 'oop North' - to mash for them.
When they went to look where their expected cup of tea was, she had been peeling potatoes and was mashing them. :rotfl:
Not sure if this is an urban myth or if it really happened.0 -
If I had someone working at mine all day, then yes I would offer to make them a sandwich/bacon butty.
But I wouldn't be making them lasagne and chips

I've never heard of tradespeople expecting lunch. They'll almost certainly bring a packed lunch and probably their own tea. Last time we had men in doing up the kitchen, they refused all offers of refreshments as they'd brought flasks etc. I did eventually manage to tempt them with homemade cake though

If you feel like you want to be prepared, maybe have the ingredients for bacon butties so you can offer them (you might get the work done more quickly..!) but they will probably say no.
OTOH, if your tradesmen were recommended by your mum then they might be expecting lasagne and chips

I haven't & wouldn't, but have met some who do.
I do offer drinks and biscuits though; sometimes they have their own.
A good friend of mine is doing a large extension which has already taken 6 months. She sets up a separate drinks & biscuits area for them to help themselves: great idea if you have the room!0 -
My husband works in customers' houses and would never expect lunch to be made for him although sometimes customers do offer.
He either takes his own lunch or goes without so he can work through. He does appreciate a drink though.
He seems to find that the customers who often offer lunch are indian people. He is often tempted to accept (when they offer curry) but says no because it would take too much time to sit down and eat a meal. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
We had workmen in a few weeks ago (getting the bedrooms replastered) and I offered them a sandwich, but they'd brought their own lunch so politely declined. I think it's a nice gesture to offer food to them - for me it comes from my mum who would always make up a plate of sandwiches on the rare occasions we had someone in doing building work - but understandable if they prefer to bring their own.I've just had workmen in. Copious supplies of tea, coffee and biscuits were supplied but no lunches. And it may be a cliche about builders, but I could not believe how much sugar they got through. You might need an extra packet ...
One of our plasterers asked for four sugars in his tea. I had to ask him to repeat himself because I wasn't sure I'd heard right!
