Do you supply lunch to tradesmen working in your house?

I have a decorator coming next week and the job will take all day. I've never had someone working all day in the house before. Mostly they were only here for a few hours and all they needed was some tea and biscuits. But in this case I'm wondering if it's proper 'etiquette' for me to supply lunch as well? And if I am, what am I meant to offer? Is a sandwich enough? I'm really not good at cooking. Or, do they usually pack their own lunch?

I've never offered lunch to any workmen we've had in the house all day, which is quite a lot of late, they usually bring their own bait!Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Absolutely not. They bring their own food and will leave/sit in their van/whatever. That's the way it is.0

Tea and biscuits definitely, but no way on lunch. Don't know of any tradesman that would expect it tbh.0

Definitely not necessary to provide lunch. Often I find they come early and work through the day without stopping for lunch anyway, then finish a bit earlier, maybe 4ish.0

workman will make their own arrangements for lunch and will eat at a time that suits them. But i have never met a workman on a long job that refuses a mug of tea or coffee when offered.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

Thanks for the replies. I can relax then! The only reason I've asked is because my mum always makes a proper cooked lunch for them, something like lasagne and chips and then also supplies various biscuits/cakes/scones throughout the day with tea and coffee. I was unsure if this was the norm.0

As they will be there all day, make sure they know they can use the toilet. Our builders said that they sometimes get told that they can't use the toilet!0

Have you seen the mess builders leave behind? All their diet is, is pot noodles and vindaloo's:rotfl:As they will be there all day, make sure they know they can use the toilet. Our builders said that they sometimes get told that they can't use the toilet!
