One headlight gone... do I use fog lights?

Apart from the side light will still be on, so anyone paying attention will not make that mistake.

They shouldn't make that mistake but an approaching driver may not so easily observe a not very bright sidelight. Their brains may just see one bright headlight and think "Motorbike". A driver paying attention should notice the sidelight too but a tired or careless driver might not.

I'd be interested to see who would be classed as "at fault" for this.

On the one hand, you shouldn't have a light out unless it only just happened (pretty hard to prove). On the other hand, driving without due care and attention is an offence which would cover a tired driver not fully aware of the situation.

Sorry, I've gone slightly off topic there.

BTW. They are called "Fog Lights".

Not "Fog Lights and Just Incase Your Headlight Bulb Blows You Can Also Use These Lights".

What do you think people used to do when front fog lights were only fit on higher trim models?

haha gotta love the self righteousness in this thread!

'Just buy a screwdriver and a bulb at the petrol station and fix it on the road, after all, every petrol station sells these things for every model car, and everybody is comfortable doing this job on every model car'

'just dont drive it until tomorrow'

    Jog on !!!!!!.

OP - if you or the misses arent comfortable doing it, drive home tonight using the fogs so no one mistakes you for a motorcycle (although slim chance of that happening) and then get a garage to change the bulb first thing tomorrow or on lunch.

Maybe you need to lookup how many different types of bulbs there are?

Name 75 cars that all use standard H1's and another 75 that use standard H7's. (easy).

Do you search ebay for your exact model of car when buying a bulb?
Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

  • Or change the bulb?

Fog lights are for, get this....FOG!

I dont sit in front of my computer searching for car bulbs, so I wouldnt know. If one blows, I drop by the garage before or after work ASAP to get it swapped whilst I wait. Rarely even get charged.

Maybe you need to look up how many different ways headlight units are mounted and with many different kind of fasteners before blindly suggesting someone of who's DIY skills you have no clue 'just fix it themselves'

There are some cars where you need to remove the bumper in order to replace the front bulbs. Can't remember which car it was but one of my dads old ones.
