  • Hi All. It's AGES since I posted but I had to share my bargains from tonight! I popped to Sainsburys for tomatoes and a bag of rocket. Those 2 cost me £1.65. I thought I'd have a quick look at the reduced sections & for an extra £8.29 I managed to get:
    • 500g sprouts
    • A swede portion
    • 200g fine green beans
    • 20 cocktail sausages
    • A large duck breast
    • 2 Sea Bass fillets
    • 2 pieces of cod loin
    • A swordfish steak
The original price of that lot was £21.88 - a nice saving of 62%. Pretty pleased with that. All the fish & meat in the freezer and obviously veg keeps well past it's date. :j

Well done on the savings - a good haul there :)

Freyasmum - I have added your recipe under 'sausages' in the recipes at the top. Thanks for that :D

Still waiting for my new freezer to arrive. It appears they gave my telephone number incorrectly to the suppliers ? Oh well, I'll see if I get a call the morrow but not holding my breath.

Last two days were NSD and hopefully next two as well

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday

Didn't manage to get to Lid! yesterday afternoon so £9.66 for spends yesterday now added. Total so far £34.55/£250, so looking good for now.

Trying not to spend too much at the moment as want to clear out my outside freezer to turn it off when we go away next month. May end up having to give some of the food away so I turn it off but not worth keeping it on if it isn't full. I've already given my DD2 some steak, chops & a huge turkey leg, which I suggested she turns into a curry as it's been in the freezer for several months now.

It'll be another NSD today so now up to 7/20 but won't update until later in case DH spends anything on his way home from work.

  • £2.50 top up shop at Mr T today - just milk and juice. Still loads of food in cupboards and freezer. Oh, and £216.26 to fix my car :eek:which still isn't fixed  Off to lie down in a darkened room... On the plus side, without the GC I wouldn't have a bit of a financial cushion for times like this.

My online order arrived this morning (20 mins early) with a couple of substitutions worth £4 in my favour and a total spend of £91, taking my running total to £257.66. This leaves me with just shy of £100 for the rest of the month. Hmmm...might need to get creative. As we hosted a bonfire party at the weekend, I feel we can rein in with regards to feeding guests or entertaining for the rest of the month. My HM chilli con carne hit the spot, so I was very pleased :D

    Hi everyone,

    Budgets updated to here :)

We are still on track this month. I have been making weekly trips to Aldi with a list of our meal plan. It's working really well, and I don't feel that we ever run out of anything anymore. I even tried their diet cola and it wasn't too bad..... Will be going again tomorrow after work and again next Thursday.

Small top up of milk, pots and veg today at Sainsbobs. They are advertising for Christmas temps but when you go online there's nothing for that store. I went in with DS (16) who is at college 3 days a week and desperate for a job. Was told that two positions would be online from tomorrow, so will need to be quick off the mark. It's just so difficult to even get an interview these days with so many people looking for work :((

lynnejk - sorry to hear about your freezer - so frustrating.

Dinner tonight is gammon steaks from Aldi, slimming world chips, carrots and stringless beans.

    Have a good evening all.
