A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

£46 spent in Morribobs today but that included a cheeky bottle of wine (£7) and £8 on nappies that should last us at least a month and half (we use cloth most of the time, just put baby in a disposable overnight). Oh, and a hat for baby (£4).
Have planned out our meals until Monday so hopefully shouldn't need anything else for a while.0 -
Just done my first Asda online shop for my student daughter, for delivery to her flat in London. :j A little bit over the £50 budget I had in mind, at £53.94 including £1.00 delivery, but I used mysupermarket and they came in at the lowest prices by about £10.00. That leaves me £41.00 for top up shopping for the month chez moi, if I slash my first estimated budget to £200 instead of £400. I'm going to give it a go because my big Ocado shop covered most things. But I shan't beat myself up if I go over a bit, because it is my first month on the GC. I think I need to persuade m'chap to start decluttering his wine rack into mine when he comes to visit, to save my budget!:rotfl: Every little helps, after all....3-6 month EF Challenge Member #19: £3590/£6000.[/B] Craft destash from 22.5.22: 46/200. 7 days into October and I'm on budget and sticking to the meal plan - and I've avoided the temptation of buying lunch at work! The only prob is that I'm getting a bit bored with eating the same things which makes me want to buy expensive snacky treats. I'll have to make next weeks plan a bit more fun and less jacket potato

I've taken home made lunches this week too, feeling very organised! Unfortunately my team is having a reunion brekkie in the canteen tomorrow, which blows my NSD plans out of the water, but I'll keep it to the bare minimum of a bacon roll, to be sociable. Having a varied meal plan definitely helped me when I was doing it in the past (I think I did fortnightly rotation) - that's the nut I have to crack again this time around with a vegetarian student who's off all over the shop and me the carnivore, who really doesn't want to have quorn every night!3-6 month EF Challenge Member #19: £3590/£6000.[/B] Craft destash from 22.5.22: 46/200. I think it's the veggie meals where I get stuck in a rut tbh - my son wants to be veggie so we have a 50/50 compromise - but that's led to a weekly rotation of jacket p and beans/mac cheese/quorn sausage and mash/omelette ad chips. On the plus side it's quite cheap eatingx

I decided to do a shop this evening in L1dl, to take advantage of the special offer it is running up here. I had to spend £40 to get £8 off.
I didn't really need to do a big shop this week, but I couldn't resist this offer. I ended up spending a hefty £36.80 (44.80 before discount)! I did shop fairly wisely though, with plenty of storecupboard ingredients. I probably won't need to buy cheese, salmon, biscuits, tinned veg or ketchup again this year!
I have also bought a lot of cleaning stuff this month, including loads of soap powder, softener, bin bags, kitchen roll, etc. I wasn't planning on including this stuff in my GC budget, but I've decided to see whether I can manage to do so after all.
I'll need to manage my budget carefully now, but I might actually succeed this month. If things get tight I can always justify making a raid on my cleaning budget!2025 goals
GC: April £100
Savings: save £6K (or move house)
Health: Lose 3 stone
Mind: read at least 24 books0 -
I include everything I buy in the supermarket in my GC budget so would be including washing powder, washing up liquid etc in this figure.

Mine too - although he did eat it :rotfl: Moaned I only got him the standard size bar though, little piggy!
Asda online delivery today cost £64.05, taking my total so far to £167.36/£340. Enough grub for the next week at least, will probably just need bread and milk after the weekend. I definitely think having a meal plan stops me buying random items "just in case" that are often wasted. I'm enjoying cooking new recipes too, which is an unexpected bonus
I include all cleaning products, toiletries, pet food and nappies in my budget, as well as food and drink whether from a supermarket, butcher, or other seller. I know some people have separate budgets for different categories, but this works best for me x0
