loving the house Snaggles!!! Doesn't matter about the carpets/decor etc, as long as it is structurally sound, the cosmetic stuff can wait. Looks like a good solid house. Go for it - we can all come around one weekend and help you paint :rotfl:

god, what I wouldn't do to be in a position to ask for a £57,000 mortgage.........that's half the size of mine and that house is about twice the size of my bungalow

    Hey Snaggles - how exciting!:)

Have you made an offer? Might be worth offering £125,000 then you wouldn't have to pay stamp duty?

    Sea xx
Hi Sea! We did think of that, but the house was valued (by the estate agents) at £140k, and the vendor originally asked £137k, then dropped it to £130k, so I think he is looking for the full asking price. If we had a buyer in place for ours and could move quickly, I would be tempted to do that, but as ours isn't even on the market yet, I don't think he would go for it. We will have a think about it though, as I suppose it wouldn't harm to try. :)

Hi Snaggles, how are things with you? Has your sister been back to the doctors, i really hope that she gets more NHS funding. When do you hope to be moving? I know what you mean about big houses, i love the idea of having one but we have a room that we never use here and it really scares me to be honest! I think things may be lurking in there when my OH is working nights. Maybe i just have an overactive imagination!
    Hi Lunar. :)

My sister has an appointment in February. It doesn't look as though the NHS will fund another try, but luckily her in-laws have offered to pay for it, which is a relief for them. We offered to help too, but they don't need us to this time. If they need/want another try after that, I will offer again, although it will be much more difficult if our house purchase goes ahead. I think we could contribute somehow though, even if it means having a massive ebaying session or three!

Ooh, good luck with the valuations, and getting yours on the market!

Debrag - That's a lovely house, I'm sure they will find someone to buy it soon. The housing market around here still seems fairly buoyant, but I suppose we wont really know until we have a 'For Sale' sign in the front garden. Just hope it doesn't take too long.

Bananakinz - that's how I'm looking at it too - it will put our dfd back a bit, but we will have to move at some point anyway, and the things that need doing to the house will just have to get done as and when we can afford them. We will just get a huge vat of cream paint and make it look vaguely presentable to start with, and then save up and tackle each room one by one.

Keren - it's probably because we live in an 'interesting and diverse' area, let's say.... :o

We were quite lucky to have bought our house when we did, because it was just before the housing market took off massively, so we didn't pay much for it.

I think my broodiness is passing now, thank goodness, and after chatting to work on the phone last night (getting my mortgage sorted out), I realised that I actually quite missed it. Well, not 'it', but 'them'. I work with some really nice people, so I am wondering now if I have been panicking too much about going back to a job I hate. They will be ringing me at some point this month to talk about when I want to go back, and what hours I want to do, so I will just go back as planned and see how it goes, but still try and find some sort of volunteer work at the school too, to see whether I like it.
