  • Go for it snaggles, we have an old and trusty tourer (we don't use it half as much as we should), which is great and so much cheaper than booking into statics. Your grandparents would be thrilled!!
Just a brief aside between me and you - have just discovered today that I'm pregnant (all my cooing over Natasha me thinks) definately not planned as I'm on the pill (haven't missed any - no anti biotics) and I'm 43!! Plus I think I may be quite away along - off to the drs tonight for confirmation and hopefully scan appointment. Don't know how I feel, shocked, excited, scared. Just had to tell someone.

    Wow that's great news!

Be excited as you'll make a great Mum! Just think of all the lessons you can pass on. I work with someone who is an 'older' mum and she wouldn't change is for the world!

Ooh how lovely for you to be able to treat yourselves. You will be able to go away wherever you want anytime you feel like it. We had a touring caravan when our ds was young and the sense of freedom when you hit the road is amazing. Enjoy ! Sorry to hear about Ryan's appointment cancellation. What a great way to spend the money Snaggles.

I inherited a caravan once, but sadly had to sell it as DH worked weekends and we couldnt afford the annual site fees (it was a huge static jobbie)

We would LOVE another one some day though.

Hypno (((hugs))) your post really moved me. I really do think you are pretty inspirational, and I'm sure your Dad would have thought so too. I hope that doesn't sound patronising.

IDA!!!!! OMG!!!!! I am so excited, you sound a bit shellshocked, but pretty happy about it overall? Congratulations. :T :T I am going to be so broody and jealous as I hear about your pregnancy - I love babies!! :D:D

Ellidee, I love your quotes (the John Lennon one and the ones you have in your sig). Very appropriate!

Anyway, this camper......well, it is just beautiful. We have offered them just a bit less than they are asking for it, and they are going to think about it and let us know tomorrow. To be honest, I think they will say no, but we will probably pay the full amount anyway because we really like it (hope they're not reading this hahahaha). I just hope no-one gets in there before us, but you have to TRY to get a bargain, don't you! :rotfl:

Hi Snags, thank you for your kind words. Just a thought, where will you keep the camper ? People often try to sell at this time of year to avoid having to pay storage all winter. So they should accept lower offer imho. XX

Thanks Pap - haven't seen you around much, are you okay?

We can store the camper at the side of our house, luckily there's a driveway that will fit the camper and 2 cars on. We will save up for a winter cover, but they're not vital, as they do have a waterproof travel cover already, and it is fairly sheltered where it will be stood. I will probably do an ebay challenge to save up for the winter cover or something!

Hey snaggles, you know, bills, money, life crap and stuff are around for our entire time on this earth (a bit like dust and crap in the oven). But the stuff that makes memories isn't. Having special times with the kids while they're young is so important. My littlest is 10 now and yeah she's still a baby in many ways but even she seems to be growing and changing so fast.

I could put every single penny I have into savings to pay off the house (or to buy one here) and mostly I do. But, when things come up like taking the kids to have a white christmas in Canada I don't think twice to be honest. Because I know I'll still be looking at those photos of them when they've long left home. Buy the camper and have loads of fun.

Promise me though, you'll join me when my daughter is 30 and your son is 27 and they still want to dress up as pumpkins and Harry Potter to go trick or treating!!!! Amber has just got the hang of this tonight and I know I'll spend the next 364 days explaining why we can't go banging on doors for sweeties, she thinks this is all a great idea now:rolleyes: routine isn't always a good thing :rotfl:
