It's not quite true that he doesn't understand things like that. He just doesn't *feel* them. He can be taught to recognise them (that person is sad) and what it means (sad people do this). Ironically non-autistic people have problems with this, as they feel it is "gaming the system".
Just kidding hun, I really do appreciate your input. What I meant really (she says, backtracking...) is that he doesn't instinctively understand them, although as you say, he can learn to recognise and decipher them (which he is already beginning to do - especially with expressions he hears regularly). But what are you going to accept? It seems like you either want a close relationship between them, or none at all.Hey! Like I'm *never* guilty of that..."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
hey snaggles...!
you've just got such a way with words y'know... does Stu read the thread at all? It might help....
i like Z's idea of instant de-briefs, flagging up when you see the signs. That way resentment won't build up in the way it does now. Of course that needs to be balanced with positive feedback in realtime too.....
Love the new sig add on too!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Stu does read the thread sometimes, but only if I show him a specific bit. As far as I know he doesn't read it off his own bat. I do sometimes wonder if anyone I know has spotted me on here - I probably do say far too much, especially as I'm not exactly hard to recognise from the things I do say (and the picture of me in my avatar
).
But most people who know me wouldn't be surprised by anything they read on here anyway, because I talk too much (you didn't notice?) and tell people everything IRL too!

In real life... you mean this isn't real life?
I only worry about my boss reading it and seeing my posting all the working day!! - not too fussed about the content as i keep it general mostly. and it's no secret about my debts, they're so much less than they were so no shame in it now.I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Snaggles huge hug for you and yours! Hope things move on for you and the mountain path widden soon!

Lol, maybe I should have said 'in my other life' rather than 'in real life'.
I'm not allowed to post from work (not that I'm actually working at the moment), so I have to get my fix at home, and fit it in between nappy changes, feeds, playing and housework. Luckily I can read and type fairly fast!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
That must mean I love my head...
Are we not your friends though? There are so many people on here I would class as friends. What actually constitutes a friendship - does it need to be a physical presence in your life, or is it enough to 'know' someone online? (no, on second thoughts, don't answer that....my head might explode if I have to enter into an intellectual discussion ).

Absolutely...Just kidding hun, I really do appreciate your input. What I meant really (she says, backtracking...) is that he doesn't instinctively understand them, although as you say, he can learn to recognise and decipher them (which he is already beginning to do - especially with expressions he hears regularly).
So if he understands and can deal with it - who cares about the route he took to get there. "He" applying to both of them.I would LOVE them to have a close relationship, but I'm realistic and would accept a relationship that isn't damaging to either of them.
They'll get there: Communication, keeping a smile on your face, and the acceptance that no matter how shiite today is, tomorrow is another day for you to have a go at getting it right.
And that applies to *all* of you."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
