I thought as much. I was hoping someone might have done a shop and forgot to post!

Couldn't get to A's today but will try them out tomorrow myself as its something I would buy anyway.

I do think myself lucky...my comments were not meant to upset either the Welsh or the Scots...I think I was more surprised that the points removal hadn't been advertised or displayed in store etc and as such I wasn't expecting it.

Sorry it must have been Sainsburys that still gives some points in Wales. Can someone confirm?

I've just had an email from Tesco to tell me there won't be points on bag re-use from now.
    Dear Mrs xxxxx,

Thank you for collecting Green Clubcard Points. We wanted to let you know that from 5 October, retailers across England will begin charging 5p for single use carrier bags as part of new government laws to reduce waste and improve our environment. This means that we will no longer issue Green Clubcard Points when you reuse your plastic bags. You can still collect Green Clubcard Points by recycling your inkjet cartridges.

We want to continue to do what we can to help you reduce your environmental impact so we will be reminding you not to forget your bags and sharing hints and tips on how to reuse your bags.

If you do need to purchase a bag, we will make sure that the proceeds are donated to good causes locally and nationally. It's a really exciting opportunity for us to help deliver some fantastic local projects and make a huge difference to the communities we serve across England, Scotland and Wales. The money raised from the 5p bag charge will be used to pay for a large number of local environmental improvement projects in communities right across the UK. These will range from building new pocket parks, sports facilities, woodland walks and community gardens.

This is your money and it is only right that you decide where it is being spent within your local communities. So we will be asking you to nominate and then vote for the projects that you most want to benefit in your local area.

To find out more on the work we'll be doing with communities, please visit our website for information.

  • I just hope that Asda keep their APG! Since it seems T's and Morries are withdrawing their price comparisons & Sainsburys only do branded check - what's the likelihood of A's keeping their (very lucrative for us)'s
  • I think Sainsbury do still give points for using your own bags. I haven't been in there for ages so don't have a receipt handy.
