Several weeks after my knee replacement I visualised myself on the bus going a 14 mile journey into Ipswich. Getting off said bus at the top of town, walking down passed M&S, calling in for a meal deal, then carry on to Costa for a coffee and cake before getting the bus back. I thought about this so much and felt so ready to do it. :)

It was only after DS3 took me to hospital for my check up, then we stopped off at MrA. I didn't need shopping, just looked at some of their nightwear whilst ge shopped. I felt absolutely knackered and realised then that no way was I ready for the public transport and a jaunt out

You will get there LS, so will I. I used to love going into Ipswich by bus, spend 2 or 3 hours there then bus home. One day, one day :)

Have you surfaced yet Snap :o. I don't want to wake you, just wandered how you are feeling after a sleep?
Thanks aj. I've visualised lots of trips and now my car is back on the road I thought I'd be able to get out and about more. I feel so much better than I did. Like you, I did the just walking into the shop and feeling knackered and ready to go home. It is frustrating but I know I'll get there eventually. I'm just worried about being setback by this next op. I really don't want to feel as bad as I did after the last one, and spend another 6 weeks in bed after.

I think any surgery needs a great deal of convalescence afterwards....my friend had a knee replaced and its now 10 weeks since the op and she is just about to return to work.

Surgery does take it out of you and whilst gentle exercise is often encouraged you cant simply slip back into normal life that easily after some procedures.

I know. It just feels like forever. Was end of July, think I'm at about 12 weeks post op tomorrow. As I said above, I can't deny I'm worried about how much the next op will take out of me. :o

Thank you both though. Will just keep on doing little bits and keep on getting stronger for two weeks time.

actually when I was checking my account today to see exactly what our package was on the list of calls for last month - only 6 of them so it stuck out like a sore thumb as the others were included so 0 - was a 123 call to the speaking clock for 50p

so I checked the date and then looked at my receipts for September (- I keep each months in a bulldog clip - I've been monitoring my spends so I can get the budget to more accurately reflect what we do spend, very illuminating :D )

On September 3rd afternoon I was in Sainsburys, firstly doing a clothing return and then quite a big shop so I had the receipt in front of me for that time and I then rang 150. Eventually I was put through to billings and a chap who was not quite the brightest tool in the box. I explained the situation - that I could not possibly be 5 miles away and at home at the same time and why would I ring the speaking clock when the time is on the computer next to the phone.

He asked if anyone else would be at home at that time - one son was in Canada, the other in the far East, daughter in London and the cats don't have thumbs and have never been known to make one second calls to the speaking clock :D

so firstly he said he could not do anything and asked me what I wanted to happen. I said I wanted my 50p refunded. He went off to speak to a supervisor and then came back and I've got a £1 Marks e voucher coming via email in a few days :)

  • I think Sainsbury do still give points for using your own bags. I haven't been in there for ages so don't have a receipt handy.

I don't think they do, has been a while since I have seen the option on self service at least.
