Well, there's been quite a lot of discussion about what people think about him on this and the thread related to the earlier series.

The programme itself could be viewed as an educational tool for some - which is why I came to this thread. I found the show interesting and thought this thread may be forum members sharing ideas

However it has just turned into a personal attack on the presenter.

Hardly "just a greengrocer" when you look into his entrepreneurial background and that his 'greengrocer business' amassed an annual turnover of £7.5 million. He's also owned a couple of restaurants and was a radio broadcaster before he got into television presenting. He'd presented several foodie programmes, including Saturday Kitchen long before he started on Masterchef. I guess the BBC must like him, even if you don't.

I never said I didn't like him, he doesn't bother me in the slightest

We own a florist shop, we aren't trained florists, we pay for those. Doesn't mean we can't run a a florist though

My boss owns the resturaunt I work in, she can't cook to save her life, see employs me and the rest of the team to do the cooking

I like the guy Chris, he seems a top lad. He is very rational, sympathetic and all-round general nice guy. His advice is top notch too.

Gregg is great too they make a good duo, but the irony of him handing out healthy living advice.. he isn't exactly slim-jim, is he!? not being horrible.. but he looks like he loves a good greasy burger and chips.

Actually, there's lots of comments about the format, content & families in the show - should you care to look - both on this thread and the one from the previous series.

The most recent comments specifically about GW are because someone posted on a 6 week old thread bringing that very subject up.

I know we've all joked about Gurning Greg on the various o/s threads, but he has gone up in my opinion. I saw his show last night (one of just 4 in the country, it was something he was trialling to see if the format would work), where he talked about his life, career, food etc. I went with an open mind but wasn't expecting much.

So I was pleased that although not ultra-polished, the show was actually entertaining, lots of audience participation. Interestingly he addressed the universal comment about "Eat Well for Less" - where do they find these families from? He played a diagnostic on the audience, asking us the following questions in succession. Do you:

    1) cook only one meal for the family every evening (ie don't pander to fussiness)?
    2) go shopping with a list?
    2) stick to the said list (who can resist the odd bargain?)?
    3) write a meal plan for the week?
    4) grocery shop just once a week (NO top-ups)?

Follow these rules and you are guaranteed to have no waste. Although it excluded most of the audience, it's nothing new to OSers of course! And on reflection, exactly what my brother does - the downside being if anyone makes an impromptu visit he lacks any snacks to feed his guests.

    I just thought I'd share ;)

I saw Greg & John at a Good Food show a few years ago and really warmed to him after not being terribly keen. He came across as a nice bloke (as did John) who didn't take himself or life too seriously. My "soft spot" for John Torode wasn't dented either:o. Both were happy to answer random questions and mingled in the crowds between sessions without trying to promote or sell anything IFYSWIM.
