thanks for sharing - what made you decide to read a thread with his name in it that is about his programme, and then to comment on it?

I think that posters are allowed to read any thread and comment on it as long as they don't break forum rules - and I don't think the post you quoted did that.

TBH, if you read the whole thread and the thread discussing the previous series a lot of people don't rate Greg Wallace as a presenter.

I think Greg Wallace and his co-presenter Gavin Bavin (or whatever his name is) are okay, but they probably aren't significantly better than two random blokes off the street.

I'd like to see Liza Tarbuck promoted from wry voiceover to on-screen. I think she could improve the presentation a lot.

In fact, I could easily ditch Wallace & Bavin and have the programme presented by Tarbuck + a chef or a nutritionist.

I could also go for Wallace & Gromit the plasticine dog. :)

I agree Gregg Wallace is the most irritating man on TV far too keen on chuntering on and stating the bl**ding obvious.
Well apart from Gregg Wallace who is a bit of a one trick pony I do enjoy these programmes, I am always open to new ideas.

The presenters put me off what could be a good programme, I get fed up with Greggs ridiculous facial expressions and voice, the other one isn't much better, so for me I have it on but turned right down.
Why was he laughing like a weirdo at the Quorn factory, he is very annoying.:rotfl:
I wasn't impressed with the last series so I didn't bother watching, I am another one who cannot stand Greg Wallace, so anything with him in puts me off watching straight away

Comments about Greg Wallace just from page 1 of this thread, there aren't any positive ones.

So most people are saying the same as PLRFD - in fact one poster even used the same word 'gurning'.

I watched the last series and felt was useless for hardcore mse as we already

    1 )meal plan
    2 )down shift brands
3 )cook and mostly prep from scratch.
    4)shop around

Out of those 4 the families that spend a lot on grocery shop woukd argue they don't have time shop around or cook from scratch.

some would argue they lack confidence ir knowledge but coking easily self taught with recipe books and programmes or even help of forums like mse it's shouldn't be down to schools.

My mam rubbish cook but she could do a roast or a casserole.

one I thing noticed in other European supermarkets is less convenience food that uk we become more like usa.
However cost if living in uk is high and we work some of longest hours in Europe.

I think most spend to their means.

times in past been super skint and tried spend lowest amount possible.

Specific diets we have been on on past have increased grocery bill.

Last couple years we had more money so been more relaxed with grocery budget buying some convenience items and ready meals.

    We have 1 frozen night
1 weekly takeaway in recent months.

    I do meal plan.
    I do write lists
But hubby did puts odd sporadic things in trolley he fancies or stockpiles biscuits cereals and ketchup which drives me potty.

We do like a fairly well stocked store cupboard which gets updated every 3months which is why our monthly amount flexes up and down its not always 100 per week for family of 5 and 2 guini pigs including household toilitries pull ups and alcohol.

We would never spend over 500 even at xmas.

I do know familes same size as ours who's spend 800 baffled how.

Both families on tv programme seemed nice did wonder what health issues one who spend 330 a week in morrisions had.

The other family so stuck in rut . Brand loyal and fussy was their problem it's about making time.

I admit we have items in cupboard brought on impulse ir not overly keen in but would eat if desparate but we not overflowing with stuff as only have a small kitchen.

The 1st family was extreme version of hoarding.

We also get stuck in rut and bored.

We have some weeks where kids got afterschool club, parents evening where we worked lots hours of don't feel well and turn to shop brought pizza we no saints but we do that every now and then not every night.

I am trying eat a clean healthy diet for my health and weightloss and it is initially more expensive but hoping once build up store cupboard price will come down.

I understand the mentality spend lowest amount as we have had times we have had to but it's so expensive to eat balanced diet on a budget.

It involves time and having the right cheap stops in door step.
doing the reductions runs used to help a little.

I used love the old style threads 10quid a week or 25 pounds a week but it's getting harder as lots basic ranges discontinued.

Fuddle check out girl called jack blog she has quite a fee gluten free recipes.

keep meaning try cauliflower base pizza.

Been saving loads meal ideas on pinterest trying do them cheap.

I saw this show last night.

It was a couple (he was a heating engineer and she was a child minder). They had two sons, aged about 10 and 8.

They shopped for a party for friends, a Christmas Day lunch with the family coming over, and food for Boxing Day, so there was a lot of entertaining going on.

We saw them shopping at the supermarket. I normally take this part of the show with a pinch of salt... but this was mental. It was like they were shopping for an army, and then it got even more surreal when they picked up 10 bottles of champagne at £32 a bottle!

The total of the shop was £577..... but this wasn't all. They also had an online order with M&S, and were buying in other places too. The grand total of the Christmas food shop was £1400!!! The husband was working all hours overtime to pay for all this

Anyway, Gregg and Chris took them through the normal steps of showing them things they could make themselves and things they could buy cheaper. Also, how to use the leftovers on Boxing Day... the family normally bin the leftovers and start on the food bought especially for Boxing Day.

The show did what it said on the tin. The family still had quite a lavish Christmas but for less money. I can't remember exactly how much was saved, but I think the bill was at least halved. But by many peoples standards, a lot of money was still being spent

They saved £800  so were still spending at least £600 .What I did like though, was the way they involved all the family when making the buffet, n the fact that the Dad realised he loved cooking :)
