AND....
there's a 'brand new prime time BBC1 show from the makers of Eat Well For Less' looking for people to appear on it.0 -

I though the children on this one were little sweethearts, the dad was nice and ready to have a go whilst yes the wife was rather more hesitant at first. However, she got it in the end....bless her.
she cheerfully admitted she was lazy but once she got her teeth into it I thought she did very well. I was amused to see her efforts at grating cheese, she was nearly as ham fisted as I am......lol.
I always think the thing to remeber is none of us were born knowing this stuff, we all had to learn how to cook and keep house.
Some of my early efforts in the kitchen don't bear thinking about and even now, over 45 years later, I still have "can't cook days" where I make a mess of things.
My daughter is making the fish cakes tonight, looking forward to trying them, not how I would do them but good to learn a new way.
Happy to try Aldi or Lidl if I'm passing but I'm blowed if I'm going to drive miles past my supermarket of choice to get thereIts not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -
I am watching the second series but am still wondering where they find the families who are on it. Are there really that many people who don't know or seemingly care how much they spend on food? It's not like they are all millionaire families is it?
I did like the family last night but felt that Greg and his sidekick could have shown them far more vegetarian meals they could cook. There are so many healthy delicious meals they could make without using meat substitutesThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
The presenters put me off what could be a good programme, I get fed up with Greggs ridiculous facial expressions and voice, the other one isn't much better, so for me I have it on but turned right down.0

I thought the kids on there were very cute last night.:D I am veggie and eat too many snacks too.:o0

Why was he laughing like a weirdo at the Quorn factory, he is very annoying.:rotfl:0

I wasn't impressed with the last series so I didn't bother watching, I am another one who cannot stand Greg Wallace, so anything with him in puts me off watching straight awayBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

It's a decent programme to help beginners those who are keen on learning a few things. I watch on the hope of learning something new. What I did learn last night is I don't fancy the protein of the future much
I was screaming "don't open the oven when the cake is in!" but I enjoyed the beetroot cake, only ever used carrot or courgette so will give beetroot a go at some point.
I know to some OSer these programmes are a bit granny sucking eggs or obvious but only really if you know it in the first place. Everyone has to start somewhere and the concept on the whole, is a pretty good one I feel.0 -
Not sure which is worse, this show or superscrimpers.0

I wouldn't be surprised if the families are told to exaggerate their shopping, for the purposes of 'entertainment'
I think the recipe part of it is only a small part of the show, but I'd have preferred it if they hadn't used the meat substitutes.
I thought the bean burgers sounded ok, and I've made a note of that one.Early retired - 18th December 2014
