He has very skewed logic. He took unpaid leave yesterday to sort something out and he had to travel 85 mile round trip. Rather than wait for it arrive in the post and send it back. As it saved on postage!!!! But then he lost x amount of hours of paid work and fuel costs. But according to him that is ok as it wont effect him until pay day
That is a very odd way of looking at things, I guess he sees everything in the here and now rather than looking at the consequences?
It can't be easy to live with someone who lacks any kind of forethought so, if you do let him stay, would he be open to having a proper discussion about exactly what you both expect of each other? It does sound like you're going to have to be very, very clear on what will happen (and stick to it) if he doesn't do as you ask.0 -
welly,
DS' family used to make me (quietly) seething by going on about how much DS was like his dad's family: through-and-through.
At the time, I felt that it was total dismissal of me as a mother, plus I thought he was like me.
The reality is he has looks and characteristics of both of us but my side think he's more like us and dad's side see only the dad bits. Except when he annoys us and that bit is inherited from the other family.
Littlewing looks like DH's side of the family (lucky her - leggy and pretty). But she has certain traits like literally everyone in the family, including grandparents and great grandparents. When she was a baby I didn't care about that. I was too shattered. Now, it is delightful to see all these traits and she is happy because she feels secure in all the family.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Welly, my niece looked like my dad more than anyone else when she was born. Now at almost four you can see both my brother and definitely my sister-in-law in her much more. She's also very obstreperous these days, no idea where she gets that from though! He has very skewed logic. I went to London on Thursday for a friend's birthday and had a delicious meal with her and some of her other friends. It's one of the two times a year that I have more than one pint of beer or a couple of glasses of wine, so after three beers I'd had quite enough, my alcohol tolerance seems to be gone. My friend remarked "I can tell you've been drinking as you're actually talking!" :rotfl:
Stayed with my parents who are near a train line into central London and drove back Friday afternoon, then Saturday I was out helping out with an event for my hobby in a biting wind all day from about 7.30am to 5pm, so ended up so tired and doing nothing on Sunday at all, apart from getting to the evening and thinking "where has today gone?"
Really big changes coming at work I learned yesterday, and I have a scary thing to do which could cause untold chaos if it all goes wrong , so I'm probably going to put it off for today and do something else instead!Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: but of course!
Ono, shouldn't worry about doing nothing on Sunday; it sounded like you needed a good rest after all that travelling and all those hops!
Best of luck with the scary thing.

*mind boggles* No wonder he has financial problems.
Ono,
You would not believe some of his logic. He really does not live in the real world.
I have found out few things that he has told me and another friend who sort of knows him and his wife. And the stuff I have been told by both makes me go  his life is a soap opera.
Any way not my problem. And really don't want to know. Still in bed. eaten nearly a loaf of toastand even brought the toaster up to my bedroom. thats bad.
And feel teary and no idea why. stink to high heaven so need a shower. Not sure why its creeped up on me. maybe the conversation last night with my lodger. he is lonely. what does he think I am. i have lived on my own for nearly 4 years.
oh well everyone take care.
Yours

It does a bit elsien - was telling myself that last night :rotfl:. It's something I'll have to be doing a lot off so I do just need to get on with it and get to the point where it's just part of my week rather than something I lose sleep over. But at the moment it's definitely still at the scary stage

(((welly))) A friend of mine adopted her two boys and people were always telling her how much they looked like their dad (neither were biologically related to them). They're in their 20s now, and I can actually see the resemblance somehow. Hang in there lovely - if there's one thing for certain it's that escapette doesn't give a monkeys who she looks like!
An aunt and uncle adopted two siblings and it is uncanny how much they look like them as adults.
If I had not been of an age to understand what was happening at the time, I would not have been able to tell, they are the absolute spit of my aunt and uncle. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

(I haven't done it yet, and to be honest don't want to in UK or US working hours, because of the number of people it would affect if it all goes horribly wrong and I have to take the servers offline to rebuild them, so I've been doing other things)Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

This would be a complete disaster! I can barely turn my own laptop on most days - the thought of me being allowed anywhere near servers is just hilarious
Hope it goes ok when you get started.0 -

Welly - well, I suppose he has to get a look in somewhere because you MADE her, literally and totally........... you fabricated that little bundle of joy inside you and she is made totally of your love! Ok, he might have supplied some of the raw ingredients, but you made her! ( FWIW - the comments would totally bug the carp out of me too and I would be tempted to respond with something slightly nasty)
Big hugs to all the squishables - sounds like some are having very constructive weeks and some need the squish chair.
I was nice to the person I had to call today about a problem getting a certificate for a course I did in 2014......he clearly knew his organisation was at fault, but had to follow procedures and I felt sorry for him.
