  • Don't be offended if I decline your offer lexbubbles, I am far too lazy tonight I have decided! I do have a Xmas cake in the oven though. It's burning on the outside but still isn't done in the middle. Turned the oven right down but don't know if it's ruined.

MU, could you invite a friend round to help you cook something, just to get you back in the kitchen? It may feel bearable if you have someone with you.

Family stuff bugging me again, part of the reason the counsellor suggested the EMDR

I could but we'd have to eat it in my room, and since discovering a pumpkin i'd forgttoen about _pale_ the room smells somehwat funky, plus its a mess and i don;t want anyone to see it (hence why Swain still hasn;t been allowed to visit in the whole time we've been together) :o

However i was considering getting a slow cooker :j i figured i could leave ot to cook whilst at work and have something nice to eat when i get home, with minimal time spent in the kicthen, at least then i'll still be able to cook (and i;ve been looking up slow cooker recipes on pinterest :o )

Gitdog apologies for the delay - he's been too busy snoring.

(Sorry for the huge photo, it's done on the phone.)

    Happy birthday WAS

MU, I use the slow cooker a lot on working days. Prepare it the night before then use a timer ready for when I get home.

I got 133 on your test, lex.

    You show high alexithymic traits.

I am surprised it is so high as I thought I'd got a lot better after therapy.

It is only a rough test and sometimes self-reporting isn't as accurate as we'd like to think it is (for reference, I'm a 166).

HOWEVER. That said, Alexithymia is a stable personality construct/trait, not a mental disorder (or is not recognised as one) and as such isn't a symptom that can be gotten rid of, if you see what I mean?

(There are 2 types of Alexithymia: trait/primary - permanent, and state/secondary - triggered by stressful event, passes afterwards)

As a personality trait, it puts people at greater 'risk' for developing certain MH conditions, but isn't one in and of itself. I'm not sure I'm making sense. It's a bit like, um, being an extrovert or an introvert. Which is to say that if you're alexithymic you're still gonna be alexithymic after therapy. It's just likely to make therapy more... challenging if you can't articulate anything (although you may get better at 'faking it til you make it'

    MU,

Perhaps your increased anxiety is because it is safer for you to experience these reactions now you have the lovely Swain and family. You are pushing your comfort zone. Maybe your body senses that you could learn to do something about it sometime in the next few years. Does Swain come to yours much? Perhaps cooking with him in the kitchen would be good. Strangers are only friends you don't yet yet (apart from the tiny percentage that are ones you wouldn't want to know!). They will stay as strangers until you are around and about.

I was always worse in crowds if I didn't have so much time on my own outside of a peopled work environment. I need time to decompress and not interact. I happily people-watch (note, not the same as stalking!).
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

But if you want to try one i'll happily send you some (consider it a late birthday present!)

Awww bday gitdog!! 74 hours with no codeine...feeling it!
  • I have 5 e-cigs, MU! I was lucky enough to buy my first one from a new company who said they would send me a further 4 to try if I left them reviews. I even have a posh one that counts how many puffs you have had and is covered in LEDs. Milk and Honey sounds amazing and I would love to try it, thank you!

Aw, hugs tea. If you can get through 5 days the withdrawal will pretty much be gone, day 3 is supposed to be the hardest so it should get a little better from tomorrow.

I only have one ecig. Its a mango cannibidiol one. It tastes ok but makes my mouth feel really dry.

Gitdog is so cute. DA has been doing stinky dog farts all day. Really stinky dog farts.
