baileys and tia maria is supposed to be good together. Although the recipe I saw was to put it in a shot glass. I was thinking pint glass lol!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. I agree, pint glass! They are two of my favourite drinks! Believe it or not Tia Maria and Guinness go really well together, 2 shots in a pint.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Pass to WaSp. Potential birthday card & perhaps worthy of a photoframe after your birthday (to help justify a handcrafted pricetag!)

I will put this on so we can all admire its gorgeousness. However, we must keep within Christmas budgets so we can't have one:

The anti-psychotics cause derealisation so now I have that on top of odd thoughts (throwing things across the room will enable the energy of the universe to flow through me and push out a powerful stream of light capable of undefined great things, anyone?). There is also a lot of underlying panic which I'll let myself off for because this is hardly a calming scenario. I need to buckle up for the ride though because things are going to be up and down for the next few days. Really, I need to stop fighting it and just accept that although I won't act on them the thoughts are going to be there and that they can't hurt me. They are just symptoms. Easier said than done though because my first reaction is to shove them aside, get frustrated and yell "Stop it!" at my brain.
Its easy to read into things.....Swain's bat "cursed" me the other day, he was only playing around but the next day i had a really crap day at work so he;s banned from letting the bat do the same in the future!. I have an annoying thing with magpies.....if i see them it tends to determine how the day will go. One is a sign of a bad day, two not so much. Rabbits (there used to be rabbits near work when i worked earl shifts) were a good sign. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Potential Escapette Present:
1. http://www.singinghands.co.uk/cart/product/dvd/
We have all 3 DVDs and they were brilliant. Good songs for babies and the signing is very visual so it helped littlewing to communicate when she was shy or before she could talk. It also encouraged her to talk. (And I didn't find it irritating to have the DVD on daily!)
2. mirror toy - babies love looking at themselves. Baby gyms often have a mirror anyway.
3. I already mentioned the baby gym although this will be more than budget. They sometimes have them half price in the supermarket. When I asked DH about Escapette's present, he said this should be it.
4. A largeish classic style cuddly toy or large Christmas toy. We have a Father Christmas and a snowman (bought from Tesco, I think, when littlewing was tiny). They come out every year from 1 - 31 Dec. We take photos each year and it is fascinating to see how she grows and how the size of her and the toy changes. I got the idea from an american scrapbooking site where the lady had various pictures or her son with a massive gorilla. It is brilliant. (The trouble with the Christmas toys is that she cries when they go away each year and starts asking for them from August so by Sept she is banned from saying the C word!):heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. 5. Board books like Peepo. Littlewing loved this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Peepo-Board-Book-Allan-Ahlberg/dp/0141337427

littlewing has loved books since before she could read. Read them to her.
6. A wooden train with an engine, and the carriages having a letter each that makes up her name.
7. Probably any toy by Baby Einstein would be good for her to play with (and play stimulates so much of a baby's development)
8. Stacking cubes or stars or anything that she can eventually safely build a tower with and knock it over.
9. Teething rings will really help too.
She is obviously young for much of this at the moment but it won't be long.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
jobbingmusician wrote: »Actually, WaS, I thought you wouldn't like the roadkill soft toys cos you would want to make them better (which is what I wanted to do!)
So I came up with a business idea - roadkill soft toys that sort of come with zips so you can stuff all the innards back in, zip them up, and turn them into ordinary fluffy soft toys(Perhaps they are like that already tho and I've missed the point!)
I had another look, and on one picture I did see a zip, though part of the body has polystyrene beads, "to give it extra dead weight"!!!
You must read the full description. It's hilarious!
I think the thing about these is that they don't take themselves seriously, and the toys are really like cartoon figures, so just as you don't mind seeing cartoon figures get run over and squished, so you don't see these as sad, particularly if you can, ahem, tastefully and anatomically arrange (NOT stuff, JM!) the innards back inside and, like cartoon figures, bring them back to life!
I know I'm into anatomy and all that, so am relatively immune to blood and gore, but speaking as the person who can't watch wildlife programmes, and as the person who can't pick up a teddy bear in a shop to look at it, because then I'd have to buy it so it wouldn't get upset at being put down again, I actually do quite like these, and don't find them sad!
(But then, I am a fan of real taxidermy too).

Aw! that is so adorable, Pyxis!
The psychosis has gone! It will be back because it never fixes itself this fast so it is a temporary reprieve, but for now I have a break from it. I will take what I can get, excuse me while I dance around the fort.
