Georgie - man, Tesco do everything!! Didn't know they had flu jabs!

DA dog is snoring on my feet. Tonight he wanted to tell me he was hungry so he trapped me between the door and him and looked from me to his food pouches and back again until I got the message. Who says he's a dumbass?! :rotfl:

Yup, go in for some milk, come out with a sore arm! :D.

Animals are so clever! Monkey cat sits comes downstairs the same time every night and sits infront of his treat bowl, waiting patiently for his dreamies!

I take back about what I said about it not being windy here. Although it's nothing to do with the weather....stand back, I've had sprouts!! :p

Not feeling too good. That is, physically ok, but ghastly family traumas erupted with a vengeance this afternoon, and I'm on auto pilot as a result. Daren't think about it too much, or voice it, as I'd go to pieces. Can't explain, sooo sorry. Am broken-hearted.
Never mind. Have been on my own for half my life, so being on my own for the rest of it will just be par for the course.
Sorry, but someone asked how I was!

I heard about the virus hand foam from someone having radiotherapy, so they have to keep viruses at bay. If you look at hand gels, they say 'kills 99.99% of bacteria', no mention of viruses.

Talking of deliveries, do you remember the delivery that never was, last Friday, the day for delivery given on my confirmation email? Well, having been unable to get through by phone or email on Friday, and they were closed over the weekend, I phoned yesterday. I actually got through, but they phoned me back twice while they tried to find out what was going on. I explained that I might not be able to be in all day on another delivery day, hence my choice of last Friday. Anyway, they left it that they would try to find out why it was coming up as out of stock, when it wasn't, what happened last Friday, and when it would be delivered, (which might not be for another two weeks). They would ring me back either today, or tomorrow.
Well, this afternoon, 20 minutes before I was due to go out, there was a ring at the door. Guess what it was? Yup!
The Radio Times shop obviously haven't had a clue what was going on. I was so relieved I was in. It will be interesting to see if they telephone me tomorrow!

  • WaSp can't stand or have his leg down on the ground for long enough, whitewing. He has to keep it raised several inches in the air whilst lying down so I would have had to go to the hospital alone which was a non-starter basically. Don't worry, it will be fine, they will likely give me an appointment in January.

Oooh, a camping stove is also a good idea! Wasp will have the compression bandage changed on Thursday and then they will see how the healing is going, hopefully he can move around a bit more by next Monday. It would still be handy to buy things like that though so that we aren't caught out again.

Aw, huge hugs, Pyxis. I am so sorry. Hang in there, you know we think the world of you.

Our internet is going in and out so I may disappear. If it goes completely, WaSp may jump out the window, internet is about the only thing keeping him entertained!

Pyxis, you're not alone. You have your tribe (aka us!). Massive hugs for family issues.

WaS, could you get something like a halogen oven which switches itself off after cooking or use a timer plug (set by WaSp) to ensure it can't burn the place down?

Not a fan of antibacterial stuff tbh. I have some hand gel for dog walks but I rarely use it outside of that. This whole antibac thing has gone way too far and I think it's why people have lower immune systems now. There's even antibacterial laundry stuff now - what's the point unless the clothes will be dried in a sterile bubble? Much better to shore up your immune system to ensure your body knows how to handle bugs and viruses. Unless of course you're in the hospital or dealing with open wounds or have a weakened immune system or OCD (had a friend with OCD who used to wash her hands and use antibacterial gel so much as part of her rituals that her hands were cracked and bleeding and sore. It must have been so painful whenever she used the gel but she had to do it - it's why I hate this trend of people saying 'I'm a little bit OCD' when in truth they just mean they like to clean).

Will be in the blanket fort with the covers pulled over my head. Feeling very blue and dissatisfied. I suspect I am heading into another depressive period as left to my own devices I would just lie and stare at the wall and think about how it would be nice not to exist anymore. Not suicidal, just a sort of general, what's the point of being here when the world is such a horrible place type thoughts. May use my SAD lamp later and see if that helps.

Big hugs (if that's appreciated!) to code, pyxis, WaSP and anyone else feeling a bit 'meh' today. Can we all just hide in the fort and not have to speak to anyone else for a few months??

Hibernation is definitely appealing right now. Littlewing has been coughing through the night and that has affected DH and myself.

I still believe there are plenty more great, kind and decent people in the world than nasty ones. I am heartened by the police and other emergency services personnel who have the courage and skill to respond so quickly to changing events, everybody who attended Wembly last night (who had to stop and make a decision whether to go or not), the Parisiennes who defiantly ate out last night on the terraces of the city. And of course, every one of you posting or reading this thread, having your own battles and victories in daily life.

Faerielights, if you have your operation today, I hope it goes well and is the start of a more settled period of your life.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • Best wishes and good luck vibes for Faerie

Hope everyone is doing as happy as poss atm. I had my flu vaccine on sat and paid for it as I didn't feel up to arguing with my Dr that yes I do need it. Had a complete emotional breakdown on Monday evening, thought I couldn't possibly manage the transition period of my relationship and tried to finish it, thankfully I was talked round. Then realised that changing things on the day I had a psychiatry appt and hasn't eaten was a bad idea. Oops.

  • Hugs Pyxis, sadly families have great power to hurt us.

Tea, I know it's a nusiance, but I laughed so much at your message about the email sent to the whole company, whoever thinks it is a good idea to do that? I bet the IT department were unimpressed!

I need to have a word with my Italian teacher, she sent out the homework by email yesterday. Email is fine, but the lessons are on Wednesday evenings so it didn't give enough time to actually do it. I also don't think she appreciated just how much she had asked us to do, it was a translation of a news article and very, very long. It also had some compound tenses we haven't encountered yet, e.g.

    <conditional> <auxilliary verb participle> <participle> (sarebbe stato arrestato)
    <imperfect> <auxiliary verb participle> <participle> (era stato notato)

and I can't even work out what "potrebbe essersi dato" is all about! I can break it down into components but how it is supposed to be read, nope. dare should take avere as its auxiliiary and I always struggle with essersi anyway. So, teacher is going to be earning her money tonight explaining all of that!

(I'm not asking the Internet for help with my homework, honest :o just having a little moan that it's hard!)
