I am wearing a new/old pair of jeans today. I bought them a while back when I went down to size 16 clothes and they cost £1.50 but they were too tight. Now I have them on and they're too big in the waist but too small in the thighs. I must have massive thighs!! Hoping the material relaxes a bit with wearing.

Here is one of my weight related fears: You know how the news does stories on obesity and it's always accompanied by a photo of a fat person's back and bum as they walk down the street? I always worry that it's going to be me. I have been called fat twice on the street by random people. One woman followed me down the street muttering that I was fat and how disgusting that was and I was smaller then.

So tired today. Didn't sleep much.

Welly - I must admit that maternity trousers have looked tempting to me in the past. I like the stretchy belly bit as I carry fat around the belly. I think they'd be my eating trousers, like in Friends when Joey had to eat a whole turkey and wore Phoebe's maternity pants.

I often think about maternity trousers! My problem (apart from the general weight gain over the last year or so) is the endo-related bloating. I can change a good two dress sizes over the course of a day. The trousers I put on this morning were ok, now I'm holding them together with a hairband and hoping my long scarf covers that up! I am so glamorous :rotfl:.
  • Hello all! This is going to have to be quick as I'm in work, but I've at long last been able to catch up (8 pages I think it was, for not much more than 24 hours!)

WaS - only you could have such a wonderful and unexpected day out! Well done JL - I think I will post on their facebook page (something not too obvious!) to thank them!

WW - I have a truly wondrous garment purchased in Primark which I think would sort out your problem. I went looking for a vest just as a warmth undergarment, and came out with a lycra thing which pulls down to the tops of my legs just below crotch level, and keeps EVERYTHING tucked in! I would think it would be great (but might be hot?) to exercise in. Only a fiver, as well!

    Love the calories post :D

Squishes to those having a hard time, especially Pyxis as I can really relate to this, for some reason. Can you do a different kind of squish on the nasty person? ;)

I do that trick too, only in my case it's IBS bloating or water retention. These ones I keep having to do a cowboy move where I spread my legs out and pull the jeans up so they come up at the thighs. It's very graceful!!

my boy came home just now! I'm soooo relieved!! :) I left a voicemail on my friends phone when I was worried last night and I got this text back: "Don't waste my time on stuff like this. waking up and hearing your voicemail makes me want to listen to you less" I'm so upset, and I feel terrible that he's so angry with me.. I was so worried about my cat.. Now I'm beating myself up for trying to call him :( 1derwoman.. I'm so sorry about your partner.. what an awful way to finsih the relationship
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)

OMG faerie - with friends like that you certainly don't need enemies!! What an utter @rse. Please don't beat yourself up - you were upset and scared and thought a friend could help, not unreasonable!

Am so glad your boy is home safe, give him a lovely big squish from me x. Reckon the pair of you need a relaxing afternoon in the fort with some dreamies :)
  • Faerie that's brilliant news, so glad he turned up safe and sound! :j

As tea says, with friends like that, who needs enemies?! Me being me and not in the mood for taking any crap of anyone nowadays, I'd have probably messaged something sarcastic back like "that's fine by me honey, I'll extend the same kindness and compassion to you when you need someone to talk to".
  • Feeling very disheartened today.

I am very unhappy in my job (long story that I won't repeat) and have applied for about 40 jobs in the past month or so.

Not a dicky bird from any of them. :(

    HBS x

  • I am that shape, Code! I can often put my fist down the waist of my jeans but they're tight on my thighs. So sorry that you had those horrid experiences, have a hug.

Ok, now I want fluffy calories with little faces in my wardrobe, you all knew I'd say that, didn't you?

    Lovely to see you, Welly!

No wonder you are struggling 1derwoman. Things will get better, but for now keep your head down at work and be polite but distant. Keep talking here if it helps, we are all here for you.

So glad your kitty came back, Faerie! As everyone said you don't need friends like that, you did nothing wrong. Have a hug.

Hugs for you, too HBS. Sorry that you feel so low, job hunting can be such a soul-destroying exercise. Keep trying, which is easier said than done I know.

What a lovely idea, JM! Please do post to their Facebook page for me, I am going to write to the store manager.

Are you feeling any better today, Pyxis? I have been thinking of you.

No hangover today, luckily! But a message from the landlady saying a surveyor will be coming here on Friday. Argh! We need to tidy and my arm is still wonky!

  • *hugs Pyxis* sounds like AmDram is a stress relief for this other woman, still doesn't make it at all ok to take it out on you. I hope you feel better soon. Sent to coventry, reminds me of Famous Five and Mallory Towers :D

Calley - how long have you been on the new meds? That waiting period to see if they settle and work properly is soo annoying. Is there any way of getting the intrusive thoughts out? writing it down or something like that? Good luck with the estate agents :)

Georgie - hopefully the boiler is a quick (and cheap) fix

Code - would your friend listen to some warnings? If you say 'I'm concerned that this might not work as well you expect, have you factored in what to fall back on if it doesn't' then it raises the problem but in a caring way. I know not everyone responds well to that. I'd be very loathe to spend £25 on a mascara tbh.

oh, just saw your post about money being tight - sod £25 for mascara, I'd be explaining that money is really really tight atm, and if it is for lots of other people too.... Sadly I agree its a pyramid scheme under a disguise of working independently

Melly - how are things going with the housing issue? I hope you and your OH are doing ok atm, and Mr T cat too ofc

WaS - sounds like an excellent trip out :D Top marks to the JL staff. Hope the tidying for the surveyor is fairly gentle x

Iderwoman - *waves* hello :) We were all new here at some point, and you are very very welcome. I'm sorry you've had such a nasty surprise :( The marriage and relationships board on MSE are pretty helpful for practical advice if you feel it would beneficial for you.
I hope work get him set straight quickly! Seems like there is a lack of emotional maturity there, and I'm very glad work are recognising this.

MU - bless the kindness of strangers, I'm very glad someone with understanding and compassion was there :)

FL - *hugs* the vast majority of the time cats will come back home as soon as they are ready. One of mine seems to hear me walk down the street with my walking stick and come running to me, yet when I open a window and call I get ignored.
That was a really cruel message to get back, especially as you left a voicemail. Maybe sending a text in future to see if they are awake first?

WW - tummy supportive knickers sounds sensible to me :) Oooh if you struggle to find any, than maybe get them as tights and cut the legs off? I find Spanx a bit too rigid for lots of bending and twisting

Tea - I can change 2 dress sizes in a day too and its infuriating! I find it makes it very difficult to know if I've lost or gained weight as its just so variable.

HBS - I know that story too :( all I can do is sympathise and hope something comes up soon *hugs*

Daleks don't scare me, but the Weeping Angels are just about my worst nightmare! And I love cheese - but am allergic to milk and cheese proteins. Not that it always stops me right enough.... bad Dragonette

Laughs its taken me about half an hour to catch up and write this post :) Last night my bf, metamour and I sat down and had a 4hr+ conversation. Feeling much less hopeless about things, but there is a helluva lots of work to do
